The quality is pretty good, but I wouldn’t come back.
Chicken pho 4/5 This is a different take on pho. Usually, it's a more plain and smooth chicken broth with green onions, meat, and onions and you add as much bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos, lime and sauces (hoisin, oyster, siracha, chili oil, fish sauce, & pickle jalapenos) as you want. The broth is already seasoned, and it taste like someone made their bowl of pho just for you. The broth is good, but I prefer a cleaner bowl of pho where the chicken is more pronounced with lots of basil and bean sprouts. The actual meat is pretty tender, flavorful, and easy to shallow. I usually can’t chew the skin, but it was fine here. Its not actually a lot of food for $17 compared to other pho restaurants, but its a perfect amount and not too filling. The Chinese doughnut was grilled, so it was good. Honestly, I prefer Saigon 88, where the chicken flavor is more pronounced, but the skin is inedible for me.
Bossam 2/5 The pork belly is pretty tender just like other Korean restaurants, but it is not worth it. There is just not enough cabbage, radish kimchi, sauces, jalapeños, or garlic to compliment the pork belly. You only get one small piece of garlic for 20+ slices of meat. The kimchi just isn’t pickled or sour enough to cut...

The pho was marvelous. While the usual condiments could have been added, after the taste test, I found the broth light and full enough that I did not feel the need to add any additional flavors . Added a bit of the pickled jalapeno, small squeeze of lime and the red pepper quietly placed on the counter, which added just the right amount of salt and acid to complete it.
The take away option was perfect as well, but be sure to get there early enough as the Kimbap was gone by the time I had arrived (around 11:30am), but the available pork belly and quail egg made up for it. For sure will get there a bit earlier next time.
Extra, but unnecessary explanation: This is a new shop and sitting at the counter was delightful. In the brief time I was there, I was able to catch smaller, endearing moments, as they find their rhythm in both preparation and serving. It feels very familiar and comfortable in every way and definitely recommend stopping by for their hot foods or staying for the prepared foods. I chose both and

Read moreDue to the limited hours and location, I can never find the right time to try Southside Super. Since I was on my way to SMF airport and dislike airport food, I called to order two kimbaps to eat on the plane. They typically don't accept kimbap to-go orders but young lady made an exception for me. My lucky day!
Southside Super is an Asian Diner & Deli, located in Downtown serving both Vietnamese & Korean dishes to dine in and to-go. The diner is tiny with few small tables and diner style counter/stool. It was almost full when I got there at around noon time.
The fried tofu kimbap was flavorful and generous portion for $7. It's interesting they put perilla or shiso (not sure which one) in the kimbap. I'm used to tasting the spinach usually, which has a small amount. Overall, I like it and truly a perfect meal for the plane or on the go!
I also got the bulgogi kimbap but gave it to my son who drove me to the airport. I'll update once I get his feedback.
Besides kimbap, they also have this vietnamese meatball on a baguette that I would love to try, which will probably taste better...
