Let me start off by saying that the staff at the front were phenomenal. Period. I had initially made a reservation for my wife and I for 4:30 but we ended up getting there early.
The staff were more then happy to accommodate us by seating us 30 minutes prior to our reserved time.
We were asked if a booth was okay with us and promptly seated. The assistant waiter came and introduced himself, brought out ice cold water and a oven-hot loaf of bread with butter and let us know that our main waiter was going to be on the way shortly.
The menu is what youâd expect for a steakhouse on the finer side. Small but concise menu that flows perfectly well, while items compliment each other perfectly.
For an appetizer, we decided to split their mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat. The dish came out perfectly on time as we were just about done with the bread and butter. It was sizzling hot and absolutely delicious. 5/5.
Then we went for salad. I got the Caesar and my wife ordered the steak house salad with a side of ranch. And once again, the timing was impeccable. They got our dirty dishes and silverware and brought out our salads. Both salads were perfectly chopped, fresh, and didnât have that ârefrigerator tasteâ on the lettuce that you sometimes get with salads. 5/5.
While eating, the wait staff was extremely attentive but not overly intrusive, which is a very hard thing to accomplish. Sometimes you just want to be left alone and enjoy your food, yet you donât want dirty dishes/silverware piling up on the table. They managed to hit the sweet spot.
For side and main course, we both ordered garlic mashed potatoes and each got ourselves our own filetâs because she eats hers correctly (medium-rare) and I am a disgrace to humanity because I need my steaks cooked medium-well.
The way I order my filet mignon is very hard to get right because if you overcook it, it ruins the softness and becomes dry. The chefs made my steak absolutely perfect. Exactly how I like it. Little bit of pink in the middle with a perfectly seared outside. 5/5.
When it came time for desert, our waiter promptly came over with the menu and packed our leftovers for us perfectly into a doggy bag.
We split their bread pudding which turned out to be amazing. Seared top, juicy, delicious, and perfectly sweet.
All in all, the experience was everything we hoped it would be, and then some. I actually ended up knowing the manager on duty that evening through a motorcycle riding group who was extremely helpful, sweet, very attentive.
To make a long story even longer, Iâd highly recommend Ruth Chris - Sacramento to anyone looking for dining on the finer side. Prices are what youâd expect but you definitely get your...

I emailed the email I was given in the comment to this post three weeks ago and nobody has reached out to me. It seems as though Ruth Chrisâs really does not care about or value people who have medical conditions, Especially those who have to wear a head cover or a different color other than white.
I recently had a deeply troubling experience at Ruth Chris at the Pavillions that I feel compelled to share. During our visit for my daughterâs birthday, my group of 11 faced an upsetting situation when my African American mother-in-law, who is a dialysis patient and was wearing a headscarf for medical reasons, was asked by the staff to remove it. This request was not only inappropriate but also deeply disrespectful. We were all very embarrassed about the way she was treated, and it was disheartening to witness such blatant racism in 2024.
To add to the absurdity, there was a young girl wearing a cowboy hat, and apparently, it was perfectly acceptable for her to keep it on. When I spoke to the manager, she told me that the staff was âjust doing their jobâ and that if we had informed them of my mother-in-law's condition, they would not have asked her to remove the scarf. She repeatedly mentioned that this policy was outlined on their website, which I found baffling. I never knew I had to check a website to see if a scarf worn for medical reasons was allowed.
After the incident, we all left the restaurant feeling upset and discriminated against. We later checked the website, which states, âAt Ruthâs Chris we promote a comfortable, family-friendly, and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. We ask Guests to support this atmosphere by not wearing: clothing with offensive graphics or language; exposed undergarments, cut-off shorts, and tank tops. We kindly ask all Guests to remove hats when entering. Hats and team support jerseys are welcome in our bar and patio areas. Requirements may vary by location.â Notably, it doesnât mention anything about scarves.
I hope the management takes this matter seriously and reflects on how their policies and staff training can contribute to a more respectful environment for everyone. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant. I am very disappointed in the manager who is a woman of color. When I asked her if she was okay with the racist behavior, she told me she was âjust doing her jobâ. Do better Ruth Chris!! I am pretty sure itâs illegal to not only discriminate, but ask someone to remove their religious or medical scarf/...
Read moreTruth be told, I thought I would feel awkward when I first walked in. Only because I had never been to a place that fancy before. When I tell you I felt so fancy and welcome. The service it was magnificent remarkable. When you try to find that word? But I can't find it, it was great. Let's keep it simple. The waiters and waitresses were so attentive. Even when I got my drink, late because I couldn't figure out the drink menu. And I don't drink alcohol like that, and I couldn't figure out the water, I got my drink after the appetizers. But it was a lesser word when you go to a fancy place soft drinks are not served. But they had juice for the baby it was super cute. I should've just ordered what the baby had as a drink but being the adult. I didn't want to feel embarrassed, I just picked whatever alcohol cocktail they had. Also, it was so pretty inside with the dim lighting and little lights on the tables in the decor. Oh, I love the decor it was modern. When everyone was leaving, they did not rush us to leave as they began to clean. I don't think they were closing, though, because people were entering, but it was quite late. I do love their professional attire. It's so classic, black, and white, with their attitudes with very professional. Everybody has smiles when they're faces. You don't see no attitude. I will definitely go again. Most likely, I'll go alone because of on the side. They had a little bar nook with a couple of tables there. And you can feel comfortable being there by yourself, which I love. Also, my lamb chops were delicious. Never had it before. It was just words that I recognized. So I figured it would be good, and it was. It is pricey, but not by a lot of $$. I just pay for my, self, but if you go as a couple or a party, it's gone, come out the pocket.$$$$. But I do highly recommend everybody. Just try it 1 time even if you gotta go by yourself. Save up the coins because the food there...
