River Park has been starving for a solid restaurant in this strip for years now. Unfortunately all the previous attempts have been mediocre at best. With all the excitement (and drama, it's going to open, it's not, oh wait it's open!) about The Coconut we were looking forward to opening night. Now we had expected some opening day jitters and that's what we found our first 4 visits.
Service has improved but it's still a bit uneven. The last visit we were seated quickly and food was brought out promptly. But timing is off as we had barely started our appetizers when our dinner was brought out. On previous visits the food had arrived barely warm. This time everything was hot.
Other improvements were the garlic/parmesan fries not being overwhelmed with garlic and while they were still undercooked at least now they had a bit of crisp (although not nearly enough). But since they use such a thick cut once they aren't hot it's not a good eat.
Tried all the curry and while fine the sauce was just a bit watery and flavors not well developed. The wings were good nothing to complain about except the uneven portions.
Overall a little disappointed but enough promise that we will go back in a few weeks to see if it...
Read moreThe service here was no good. I placed an order for pick up and when I walked in to get it the person at the front would not even look at me. Then I realized I hadn’t received any utensils so I asked for some and she slammed the fork down on the counter. I took my items and quietly left. I would understand if they were busy but there were a total of 4 people in the entire restaurant who had already been served. I worked food service at one point so I always do my best to be respectful and kind because I know they go through a lot. However, that kind of treatment is unacceptable. I do not recommend this place at all. Go to Thai Canteen or Thai House Restaurant instead. There’s better service and the food...
Read moreGem of a Thai spot. Top notch Thai fare, excellent Happy Hour, perfect take out or dine in. Add lots of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options clearly marked on the menu, pretty much something for all. They offer appetizers, soups, salads, and desserts in addition to yellow, green and red curries. Their brown rice is particularly attractive and a good option to traditional white on entrees. Perhaps their drunken noodles are most popular. We especially enjoy the protein options of two types of chicken, plump shrimp, beef, calamari (either breaded or GF), fish or seafood mix making for endless combinations. Haven’t hit a dud meal yet. Sac State students haven’t yet discovered this gem but East Sac and...
