The Original Mels Diner — Restaurant in Sacramento

The worst service EVER in my 27 years in US. I wish I could give negative points.

I am a professional woman in IT and am not young. I eat out a lot and have never written a review for any of my bad experiences but this one deserves it a thousand times fold.

To be fair, there was one woman - let's call her the nice lady - who was excellent in her service. She made my day (on Jan 6, 2016 , my first day at a new job that I was rushinh to and a few days later when I took it to go, both time ordering "TWO plus TWO" in which she replaced the meat with red potatoes as I desired.) In fact, she was the one who showed me that platter when I was describing her that I wanted French toast, eggs, and potatoes but no meat.

May be because of her excellence service of superb quality that I acknowledged that made her riva, an unseemly obese woman, who usually wear red top, jealous and did not like me and did what she did with my coffee. She dud it not just once but two times in a row and then acted up when I tried to get it corrected during the sevond time despite my not accusing and simply asking for decaf and regular so that I could mix it myself.

The following is my experience the second time this obese woman gave me decaf instead of "half decaf and half caffeinated" plus one more time (last time) where she screamed upon my entering the restaurant that I was not allowed to the restaurant and recruited her peers of low quality losers to not serve me, telling the Pakistani owner that they would walk out if he allowed me to eat. And the owner who did not know the history but learned the history from me (I talked with him outsude) after I told him what happened and that his nephew was aware of it said this to me: I will talk to my nephew but you go eat somewhere this time.

CAN ANYONE BELIEVE THIS about the owner?

The first tine, I suspected that the coffee was not what I requested, I didn't have time and let it go as I needed to be at work at 8 am.

The second time (on a Sat) when she did it again, I didn't even bother to cirect as I was in pain with my neck injury and a concussion when I saw a man picking up plates at a nearby table, I asked him for a decaf and a regular coffee. His hands were full and so, he told a young girl to get those for me. This blonde, a lazy young girl, instead of doing what the man asked, went to the obese woman.

The next thing knew, the obese woman came (behind me) with two pots of coffee (one regular and one decaf) and without asking me, started pouring into my cup which was one-third full (of utterly cold decaf coffee) with regular and decaf. This was about 3 weeks ago on a cold day.

I stopped her and asked for a new cup. The next thing I knew, as this woman was leaving my tabke, the young lazy girl who did not do what the guy asked her to do, came rushing to my table with a cup full of coffee AS IF I was born last night to believe that she had mixed half decaf and half caffeinated coffee.

So, I lost it as I did not have proper coffee and by the time I asked the man, I was almost done eating. I asked him only because I saw him picking up the plates and because I did not trust that obese woman.

(Frankly, the lastt time 7I went, I went that day to let the nephew whom I thought was the owner to tell him that even though I wanted to support this restaurant upon finding out they are fellow Muslim, that I would be concern about my food being spitted on since this obese woman had all the other girls except the quality woman on her side.)

Of course, one understands that this gangsters act of the employees overpowering the owner was these females just simply showing their running the show ( restaurant) like a big fish in a small pond.

For an owner to offend a customer instead of keeping his employees under control was just tells you that he would not even reprimand if they spit...

There are no words to describe how awful it is when you're super hungry at 11:17 pm & pregnant, you pull up to the Mel's Diner in Natomas because their business hours clearly state open til 12am on their website & Google, BUT THEY'RE CLOSED all of a sudden... So, from the parking lot, I call the business, speak with Brianna, who states they closed at 11:15.. Well that's funny... This location does this all the time. Hence the negative review finally. I mean, at least the staff can let the owner know they've changed the business hours to their convenience, on a daily... Maybe still do to-go orders??!!! So after happening yet again, my recommendation is don't waste your time. The staff at night says the kitchen closes at 11:15, so they can't serve customers. Ok sure. Smh. However, I'm still in front of Mel's Diner & see 3 staff sitting at the counter eating. Not to mention the 2 staff out front smoking cigarettes. Don't hesitate to drive the extra few miles to downtown...

This is the place I go to meet my kids halfway point from their house to my house. I live in Marysville. They live in South Sacramento so we meet there kind of there halfpoint. Mine is a lot more. But anyways I see my grandkids. They love going there. They order their own milkshakes since they know them and they love their hamburgers. They can order whatever they want. They know Grandpa will pay for it so that's why we go there and the food is great. The people are great. It's always clean the people that go there. They're great people. We're always having fun talking about one thing another, but we're always doing good. Great place to take your family or if you just want to go by yourself, have a cup of coffee and kind of enjoy your thoughts by yourself. That's good too. Good place. Thank you...
