Taqueria Rincon Alteño — Restaurant in Sacramento

So good! Been living out here for a little over 4 years and this is by far the best Mexican restaurant we have found. This whole place is food coma worthy. The portions are generous, the service is good, the wait time has never been too long or an issue at all, and the Carnitas ( my own personal measuring stick for Mexican food ) are damn near perfect. You know the food is good when you come back again and again and are willing to try new things that you never had before. I've never had a Sope until Rincon Alteno, and now, it's gotta be one of my favorites. The Pozole is delicious and they have plenty of tables and seating. Best Michelada I've ever had and they have a SALSA BAR. S A L S A B A R. A lot of places have one, but this one is legit. They also have a $15 burrito that's about 2 feet long and can feed a family or just you for a couple days. I've heard the Chile Relleno is good and it's next on the list of things to try here. This restaurant has really lost their touch I have not been here in about 2 to 3 months but I used to be a frequent customer today I walk in and immediately the girls at the counter are all gossiping about their personal life and not attending the customers when I place my order the girl is more worried about her personal conversation then taking my order which was disappointing because their customer service use to be great. Once I get my order the food has no flavor it taste like it’s been sitting out and old, I see another customer walk in as I receive my food and immediately the girls at the counter not including the waitress with glasses All start making fun of him and the and the cooks as well they tell them to say we are out of this and out of that so that they don’t have to cook me food while they are over there laughing at him he is just standing there not understanding what they are saying they really need to change the staff and better their food. I left very disappointed...

I came here for the first time today with my husband and parents and we're sure to make this a regular dinner spot.

I ordered a plate of chile verde (my fave) and was so pleasantly surprised!! Everything was great. The meat was so tender, the salsa was so flavorful (also spicier than past places I've tried, which was great), the refried beans with chorizo were so good, and the rice was so fluffy. Totally recommend!!

My husband ordered a shrimp super burrito and was not too happy with it. My parents ordered the steak ranchero and the carnitas plates and liked them both! Although, everyone agreed that the chile verde I ordered was the best. :)

As a heads up, it might be difficult to have more than a party of four here. All of the tables seem to be for a max of four people.

The food came out so fast! We were so impressed. Even when it got a little busier, we noticed that people still got their food quickly.
