Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Saint Augustine

First time at a Sonic in over 10 years. An after 11 pm, feeling hangry, needing-to-eat-my-feelings-on-the-way-home-from-a-pool-tournament stop. Drive-thru only at this time of night, with an incredibly long wait, but it's late, I'm not complaining, just noting. God bless them for being open. I order a double cheeseburger meal, with an unsweetened iced tea and fries. Then my whiny inner-child sees the corn dog and I hear angels singing, "Hallelujah, hallelujah, hal leeee lu jahhhhhh." Yes. I order it. I sit in my car and wait, anticipation slowly building as I inch forward to my childhood carnival prize. Service: efficient and cordial. My order: I receive a coke instead of unsweetened iced tea, which I keep without complaint (it's late) half-filled, warm fries, hot sandwich, and piping hot corn dog. In the car, I try the fries. They are crunchy, nicely salted, but the processed potato flavor is overwhelmed by a need-to-change-the-oil-soon after taste. I still eat them. I bite into the corn dog and burn my tongue, doing that damn-i-knew-it-was-too-hot food juggle in my mouth. The corn dog is an amazing sweet and savory play: a crispy, doughy outer coating with a soft, flavorful, sweet corn meal punch paired with a salty hot dog that has a good snap--on a stick! Having lived up to the hype my inner-child created, my belly is happy. Inner-child decides she must have honey mustard with the corn dog in order for sensory experience to be complete: everything back in the bag to stay warm. At home, I finish my corn dog, generously dipping in honey mustard. It is glorious. I open my burger. Delicious. Beefy. Cheesy. Pickles falling out of it. I love pickles, so this is bonus! Juicy. I mean bun soaked goodness with melted cheese glueing it together. The double cheeseburger is perfect. I ran out of fries to eat with my burger, but could only finish half of the burger anyway. The other half: breakfast, and still tasty. Wishing I had another corn dog. 🤣😂🤣 So, yes, I recommend the Sonic in Saint Augustine, FL. If you can pull off late night food, you got...

Horrible service. $10 for a foot long dog, fries and coke. Sat outside, server delivered food, gave her a $20 and told her she could bring me back just a $5, giving her a $5 tip on a $10 order...a 50% tip. She brings it back without even a thank you. If I want mediocre food and snooty service, I'll go elsewhere. Just read some other reviews, wait, don't tell me. "Sorry you had this experience, if you like to contact our employee hotline...blah, blah, blah, blah and blah. My guess, like all major companies, it'll go in one ear and out the other. NOTHING will be done. Nothing. Will think twice about spending $15 at Sonic. Back for my third edit. As predicted, the response was..."Sorry...blah, blah, blah. Looks also like it came from the owner of this Sonics. Here's a couple ideas. Nothing is worse than an employee who just doesn't care and is doing it just for the money, which is clearly what I experienced with my server. She clearly did not want to be there and wanted to put forth as little effort as possible. An employee like that hurts your branch and the overall company name. I don't know what she makes, but it clearly isn't enough for her to care about losing her job over. Since Covid, I have stopped there a couple times only to find that only the drive thru was open and now this. If I had known my server was going to be as lack luster as she was, I would have left no tip. It would have been easier for me to have gone thru the drive thru. Well, I hope she enjoys her tip, make it last, as it's the last you'll get from me. Save your money...go elsewhere. Maybe somewhere where they actually care about quality food and...

Went in around 8pm & was told it was drive thru only. When we ordered at the drive thru, our order was rang up wrong. Upon trying to correct it, the carhop only fixed 1/2 of the order. When we got to the window, we tried to correct it again before paying and explain what we wanted. When we got our order both burgers were 100% wrong and the footlong we ordered was only a RCC. My blast didn’t even have whip cream (they could have been out- I didn’t ask). I went to the door and went out of my way to be extremely nice since they were busy and only asked for the burgers to be corrected. I could tell the carhop was confused, so I offered to write down how we wanted the burgers. The manager exclaimed for the carhop to just “tell her how we wanted them” and he stated that he didn’t know and I was writing it down. One came out correct, and one was still wrong despite me writing down exactly what we wanted. I waited for 20 minutes standing outside while able to see who I believe is the manager inside on her phone and drive thru orders being served. When I asked a carhop how much longer it would be, she went inside and I saw her ask something but no one ever came back outside to let me know how much longer. Once we got our burgers, I expected them to at least be warm and was sad that they weren’t. We drove 30 minutes for this and just overall let down. I’ve never left a review for anywhere and I feel terrible my first is so bad, but I’m hoping it will encourage them to do better and get...
