I have quite a few things to say about this place: I had to edit my post because there's more to add.
I would not have said anything if it weren't for the fact that this is a consistang issue with this location... i have never seen the place clean.
This place is absolutely disgusting! Old grease, flower covering the floor, batter caked onto the counters and everywhere.
The wells were caked with dried out old crusted on food. The mac and cheese was disgusting looking.
The fridge where the sauces are kept looks like they have not cleaned it since the store opened.
The place reeks of old stale grease like they don't filter their fryers.
The people taking my order are usually pretty rude and not very friendly.
The chicken is subpar. Very greasy...yes i get that it's fried chicken and it's to be expected to a degree. But i can go to other chicken places and its never quite as bad.
This most recent time, i tried to call for over an hour and the phone was busy. I eventually gave up. I don't want to make accusations, but i dont see how someone placing an order takes THAT long.
Then today i finally managed to get through to someone and they were giving me very choppy short answers... and then before i was done ordering she said "that will be a 10 minute wait" 'click' and she hung up... no conversation, no, 'have a good day' just hung up.
She said our food would be ready in 10 minutes... we arrived 20 minutes later and had to wait an additional 10 minutes on top of the 20 minutes we had to wait.
I saw the same rude woman who took my order hang up on anogher customer right in front of me.
I would like to tell you her name, but noone has nametags.
Absolutely one of the worst food places in St. Charles... 2 stars was WAAAY too generous. This should be a 0 star average.
Generally an unpleasant...
Read moreI go to King Edwards regularly for the Catfish Dinner. My wife and I have patronized them for years.
Today, I ordered two dinners. I called the order in by phone. When I arrived, the order was not ready. When I received my order, I checked the bag to ensure the order was correct. When I checked the bag, I realized both dinners were missing the hushpuppies, the best part of the meal. I turned to the clerk behind the counter and said, "Ma'am, I didn't get my hushpuppies." She responded, "We are out of hushpuppies and the meal costs the same regardless." I told her that made no sense and asked her how was she going to make it right ir give me my money back for the hushpuppies. At that point, she gets rude and says I told you we are out of hushpuppies and the cost is the same. The entire time I'm asking why didn't someone tell me you are out of hushpuppies. Lol
I stop talking to her and I ask to speak to the manager. The manager walks up to the counter and rudely says "What's the problem". I explain the issue and he reiterates what the first employee says "The cost is the same with or without the hushpuppies." WHAT? It's part of the meal. As I'm speaking to the manager, the first employee starts talking over me. I get mad at this point and tell her to be quiet because she refused to help me in the beginning. The manager gets upset because I tell her to be quiet and he starts arguing with me. None of it made sense.
Finally, another manager comes from the back and says it makes no sense. She finally offers me another side. However, she was not the friendliest. The entire experience was very upsetting...
Read moreSmall hole in the wall with BIG taste! A former coworker mentioned that King Edwards in south city was delicious, so we decided to hit up the one in St. Charles since it was between our places of employment. The place is small. The occupancy says it can hold 32 people, but they only had 18 seats. I had to wait a little while to sit because they were using the center table to hold to-go boxes. Once someone got up, I snagged the spot after I ordered. I had never been there before, so I was expecting to dish out a little more cash, but their lunch special was priced very well. 4 pieces of chicken, a small side, and small soda for under 8 bucks. What a deal! I ordered and my food was ready pretty quickly. They ran out of thighs, so when they brought my food out, he explained what happened and said he gave me an extra leg and asked if it was ok. I feel like if I said no, they would have given me any other piece I wanted. The chicken was HOT, juicy, and CRISPY! Oh my goodness, it had such a great crunch to it. I devoured all 4 pieces with the quickness. Then I started working on my small side, the mac and cheese. This was also very delicious. It wasn't dried out and very creamy. I've driven by that street hundreds of times and NEVER knew this place existed. My favorite chicken place is no longer Gus' (Sorry hometown hero) it is now King Edwards! The only thing I think that they could improve on is having just a little bigger space and...
