We live on the East Coast, so we only visit this area once a year, and this is one of our must stop places. We are always on the hunt for good Mexican, and this is one of our goods.

They have a wide variety of burritos and many other options to satisfy any taste. I tend to jump around on the menu, allowing myself to try different things. I've tried several of the burritos, and they were all delicious. All stuffed with tons of meat, rice, beans, etc., and covered with sauces ranging from the green verde sauce which is really good with some kick, cheese sauce, red sauce, and mole sauce. This time, I opted for the El Toriado, which is rice covered with chicken, steak, shrimp, bacon, and cheese sauce. It was absolutely amazing. It came with shells, and I ate one. It was good enough on its own. My husband had the burritos arandas smothered in cheese sauce. I don't remember what was in it but I'm pretty sure shrimp was involved.

From the chips and salsa upon being seated to the last bite of your food, everything is top notch. We are more thirsty than most other people, so we may have to get our waitor/waitress sooner than some, but overall,...

My fiancé is relocating to this area for work. We have this chain in KC and LOVE their food. Servers and owners are always nice in KC. We were the only black couple in the place and the owner made a point to address our table saying that my fiancé was smoking marijuana in the bathroom. He went in washed his hands and came right back out. He came to our table saying he’s allergic to weed smoke. Saying he will have to shut the place down for smoking in his bathroom. It was odd and uncomfortable. He then proceeded to go to the kitchen window c while watching our table and cough in the kitchen area. Our second day in a new town and profiled by another person of color is outrageous. I watched him like he was watching us so he would know I see him too. He eventually went away from the kitchen window. I wanted to make sure he didn’t bother our food. I gave 5 stars for service because our server was really nice! The food was good. The owner rubbed me the wrong way. We...

Deserves no stars. Although the actual waiters and waitresses are doing great jobs. The lady manager of this place is beyond rude and racist. Asked if they had buffalo chicken wings as Bridgeton el maguey location definitely has them, the manager answers by saying “no this is a Mexican restaurant” like me and my bf were at Churches or Popeyes chicken and not aware that we’re at el maguey… a Mexican restaurant. This was very ignorant to say like there isn’t a such thing as Mexican spiced wings and not only that Bridgeton location has them so if they don’t have them and she just wasn’t aware that other locations did have them that’s all she should’ve said. It’s not just what you say but how you say it. Mexican restaurants have wings. Not only that tried to have us pay for a soda that wasn’t even touched. Black folk I’m warning you don’t patronize this location you’re in for a rude awakening. I will keep going to the Bridgeton location ❤️ No more Saint...

Miguel. Made it happen. I walked in not knowing what to expect. I sat at a booth. Wish they had a bar but in this case it didn't matter only because this Sunday night their margaritas were good and the ones I got were big enough so I only got two. I ordered the Pancho Burrito (carnita) and added a bean tostada. Honestly my two favorite Mexican dishes anyway. Burrito came with rice on the side and Pico on top. Also ordered the hot salsa which didn't disappoint. Frankly, the food blew me away. Some of the best Mexican food iv had in STL. Thanks to all the staff at El Maguey. I'll be back soon. THANKS MIGUEL!!

The food and service was amazing. There were four people in our party and the food was out within 8-10 mins. Our server was good and very attentive. Great food. Everything had great flavor. Salsa was 7/10 but the queso was awesome. The only negative was the building. Older and could go for some remodeling. Everything in the building needs an update. If you're looking for a quiet place for some awesome Mexican food I would highly recommend El Maguey. Enjoy!!!
