The service was OUTSTANDING!! Erica waited on us and she was beyond good. We had the stuffed mushrooms. They make them differently there, which they tell you on the menu and Erica warned me. We did not care for them, as they are deep fried almost to being burnt. BUT, that does not factor in this review, as I was told about and I decided to try them. What factors into this review, is my mom got a dinner salad, which it was not even close...it was iceberg lettuce, nothing else...literally nothing no tomatoes, no croutons, egg nothing. We were charged extra for the salad. Blue cheese dressing was described as sour cream base with blue cheese crumbles...there is no base it sour cream with blue cheese...it is not good. I had the french onion soup...that was Beyond excellent. I could have eaten a ton if that...and should have. We both ordered 2 Mostaccioli with meat sauce. (Here is where I let you know prices on their website do not match the present menu...understandably with the price rise today, also not part of the review...just a warning). The noodles were way over cooked, mushy. The sauce barely has meat in it...even though you pay more for meat sauce...and honestly, I am sure it is homemade, but it tasted exactly like Ragu. Absolutely no seasoning. BLAND.. Had 2 to go desserts. We wanted to leave becz it was so incredibly hot in there we were sweating. Pineapple cream cake and turtle cheesecake...both excellent and worth every penny. I had 1 glass of wine ordered like this "I would like a cheap blush" I was brought a glass of Sutter House...which was fine, fyi..6.00 a glass. The bill came to 69.24. (We drink water for dinner.) For what is basically what you can make at home, better. The bread was good but just bread...you pay extra for garlic bread. Now are you thinking " well you ate it"...no we did not. I took everything home to feed to my dogs and the squirrels in the backyard. We were starving when we got there and starving when we left. Went back to our Airbnb and ordered a pizza. I was so upset I forgot to tip Erica probably. So I drove back immediately and apologized and tipped her properly. She and the onion soup was the only bright spots. My suggestion if you are visiting St Charles go to Tony's. We are regular visitors (3 times a year) so we know the places but we always try to go somewhere new each time...this time wish we hadn't.

I took my lovely wife here last night and it is our new favorite place to eat or just go to get away from everything else because this place is literally a Haven for good food, friendly atmosphere and the best service you’re ever going to receive in this area of Missouri or possibly the entire of America The food was delicious. The drinks were absolutely amazing. We both had a crisp ice water and a very strong Long Island iced tea. The service was great. We received them promptly as well as toasted ravioli for an appetizer which you have to have when you’re in the St. Louis Ish area. The salads were ginormous. The waitress was attentive, but not up in our business but frankly, we were having such a good time she could’ve gotten all up in our business. She could’ve been part of our business. It could’ve been a business deal. We were so happy with everything and then here comes the meal, which we didn’t wait for at all. It was like they were watching us through a secret hole in the wall, and when I took the last bite of my appetizer, our dinner showed up Which were too ginormous toddler sized pork chops, and this is the part that blew me away. I secretly love, applesauce with pork chops somehow they hacked into my social media and cross-referenced anything to do with pork chops and saw that I loved applesauce, and without a word or a mention, puts it on the table in front of me like they’ve known me my entire life my wife got something I don’t even remember what she got but what I do remember is it also came with a side of eggplant Parmesan it was the furthest and most crisp eggplant. Parm I’ve ever had usually it looks taste like a spicy diaper, but this was not a spicy diaper. This was a delicious presentation of garden meets Italiano. The atmosphere was fantastic. We received 72 crackers and butter when we first got there and my wife says is there gonna be bread and I’m like is this not enough? We have crackers from all over the world every nation represented in a cracker bowl and you want bread and again like reading our thoughts, the lady comes out of nowhere with a truthful bread in addition to crackers. Can you believe this crackers and bread And butter? It’s been 18 hours since I took my last bite and it’s all I can think about my wife bags and Wayne’s for my attention but all I can think of is Pio’s

The people here were nice, but I wish that the food represented the price point. Two people at my table had the eggplant parm. This restaurant also allows you to get the eggplant parm as a side for most dishes. You would assume it would be a classic dish that was really good, but I was disappointed. The eggplants were either not picked at the proper time or were not processed correctly, as they were bitter. The coating also was pretty subpar and falling off. It was edible and sort of enjoyable, and I did eat it all. I just wouldn’t expect those qualities of a dish at such a nice restaurant. For a plate of that price I would hope for either quality or quantity, and it didn’t wow me with either. I will say that the baked potatoes were perfect and their home whipped chive sour cream was delicious. Also, the dessert case was pretty good! My table was celebrating a birthday, and we got 4 dessert slices. The carrot cake, classic cheese cake, and the pineapple sour cream cake were great. I would recommend anyone to get the pineapple sour cream cake. I’ve never had anything like it before, and it was amazing. The bourbon pecan cake was good, but it was so boozey that the aftertaste burned. Typically that means it wasn’t cooked correctly. It was really good, but I don’t want to feel like I just took a shot after taking a bite of pie. I also wouldn’t go here on a first date. It’s not anyone’s fault but the way the restaurant is set up my table was able to hear every other conversation around us. It was very distracting. I’m not factoring that in to my score. It’s just another thing.

What was supposed to be a fun night out with family was anything but the night we were at Pio's. I currently live out of town and hadn't been to Pio's in years and was very much looking forward to going. My mom had called two days prior to make a reservation. She gave them her name, our party size and the time. No problem. We got there, a few minutes early, and the snotty hostess had given our table away. We were absolutely not happy! A few minutes later, the manager came up and said they couldn't seat us together anymore but could have two tables next to each other. They couldn't move them due to fire regulations, which we understood, but weren't happy. She sort of apologized and acknowledged the problem but did nothing at all to try to make it up to us. She sat us at the tables and left. We never saw her again. Didn't even give us menus. Finally, menus were brought to us. But took a few minutes. No crackers or butter we're on our tables like they were at others. Which was always one of my favorite things about the restaurant. We never did get them. Our server was nice, but very overwhelmed. Service was slow, but I could tell she was trying her best. We received our salads and they were fine. (I love their Roquefort dressing, it's such a classic!) My cousin and I both got the Prime Rib. Mine was pretty good. I really enjoyed the creamy horseradish that came with it. My cousin didn't enjoy his at all. He said his was tough and actually had to spit a couple of pieces out because they were that tough. My mom and aunt shared the Fried Chicken. They said it was awful! Bland, tasteless and not very moist at all. For something that they are supposed to be famous for, it was quite disappointing for them. They seemed to be short-staffed, which may not necessarily be their fault, but it was quite a disaster there that night. No compensation was offered or given to us for their mistakes. No offers of a complimentary appetizer or dessert...nothing. I do not believe any of us will be going back. It's a shame that such a classic, long-running restaurant could...
