I made a reservation earlier in the day for my sister's 16th birthday and the hostess notified me they offered a slice of cheesecake with a candle for birthdays. I was happy to hear that. When we arrived we were seated at a well set table. A busser came and filled our glasses with water. It took our waitress over 5 minutes to greet us. We ordered our beverages and 2 appetizers before our meal. The stuffed mushrooms were different yet AMAZING! We ate salads before our entree. We watched multiple bussers pass by our table without taking our old app/salad plates (we even stacked them and put them to the edge of the table). My mother and I ordered the spaghetti with meatless red sauce which was brought out with meat so the waitress took it back and we waited awhile for our correct order. Once we were able to eat it was delicious. My sister ordered the Alfredo and loved it. I had to get up and tell the bartender to bring the cheesecake because our waitress had no idea (thats the point of making a reservation and the hostess making a special note of our visit). Food was great. Service should be better.

The service was OUTSTANDING!! Erica waited on us and she was beyond good. We had the stuffed mushrooms. They make them differently there, which they tell you on the menu and Erica warned me. We did not care for them, as they are deep fried almost to being burnt. BUT, that does not factor in this review, as I was told about and I decided to try them. What factors into this review, is my mom got a dinner salad, which it was not even close...it was iceberg lettuce, nothing else...literally nothing no tomatoes, no croutons, egg nothing. We were charged extra for the salad. Blue cheese dressing was described as sour cream base with blue cheese crumbles...there is no base it sour cream with blue cheese...it is not good. I had the french onion soup...that was Beyond excellent. I could have eaten a ton if that...and should have. We both ordered 2 Mostaccioli with meat sauce. (Here is where I let you know prices on their website do not match the present menu...understandably with the price rise today, also not part of the review...just a warning). The noodles were way over cooked, mushy. The sauce barely has meat in it...even though you pay more for meat sauce...and honestly, I am sure it is homemade, but it tasted exactly like Ragu. Absolutely no seasoning. BLAND.. Had 2 to go desserts. We wanted to leave becz it was so incredibly hot in there we were sweating. Pineapple cream cake and turtle cheesecake...both excellent and worth every penny. I had 1 glass of wine ordered like this "I would like a cheap blush" I was brought a glass of Sutter House...which was fine, fyi..6.00 a glass. The bill came to 69.24. (We drink water for dinner.) For what is basically what you can make at home, better. The bread was good but just bread...you pay extra for garlic bread. Now are you thinking " well you ate it"...no we did not. I took everything home to feed to my dogs and the squirrels in the backyard. We were starving when we got there and starving when we left. Went back to our Airbnb and ordered a pizza. I was so upset I forgot to tip Erica probably. So I drove back immediately and apologized and tipped her properly. She and the onion soup was the only bright spots. My suggestion if you are visiting St Charles go to Tony's. We are regular visitors (3 times a year) so we know the places but we always try to go somewhere new each time...this time wish we hadn't.

We were celebrating my mother's 79th birthday. She originally wanted to come here because they serve grouper, which we found out they no longer serve grouper. I ordered the veal parmesan over a bed of spaghetti with red sauce. The sauce was good. The veal parmeson was uninspiring Flavorless the breading seemed as it was just resting on the veal.My wife ordered the chicken parmesan Same result. My mother ordered the seafood pasta, which she took three bites and decided not to eat anymore. The only thing I enjoyed about this restaurant was the Caesar salad. I ordered a old-fashioned, which came to me in a snifter glass. ??? Full of ice ,one cherry, no slice of orange. It seemed like it was hastily put together. The worst old old fashion i ever had. The restaurant is very outdated. We sat below a vent that looked like it had mold or rust on it.I didn't even want to finish my meal. The restaurant is old and smelt, like an old house.

First time at Pio's and I have to say the atmosphere was dated but comfortable. The place has an old feel to it. That isn't a bad thing! It's dark but welcoming. The service was competent and very friendly. Our server was on point and didn't make us feel like she wanted us out the door to flip the table. She explained the food preparation and ingredients to us with obvious pride in the product. Which believe me isn't done much anymore. As for the food! The pizza 🍕 was simply amazing! Our server explained that the crust is made in house and fresh. The sauce was tart and a little sweet with a great seasoning base. She explained that the cheese was a five-cheese blend that is a guarded secret. It was all fantastic! Take my advice and give this little place a chance. You won't be disappointed!
