We typically visit Bento on some Fridays, especially since my son likes Chicken Katsu. We have lived in this area for more than 6 years and since Bento opened we have been frequent customers of this restaurant, however, our last visit was not so pleasant.
We made our order, hot food for me and my son, a sushi roll for my wife. The hot food arrived first and the sushi roll arrived but two tables to the left of our table.
I observed how the people at the other table took a piece of sushi, tasted it and called the waiter indicating that this was not what they had ordered. The waiter took the plate back and took it to the sushi bar.
I saw two servers argue about the order mix up and then brought the correct order to the other table.
I called one of the waiters, told him that I was missing a roll and in a matter of seconds, the same dish that had been removed from the other table appeared on my table.
These guys didn't check the roll that the other table returned, they gave me the same plate with the missing piece, great, as if I didn't notice.
I took the plate to the bar, spoke to the manager and asked for a refund. I explained the staff move and she kindly agreed to refund the amount for that roll.
With this I want to clarify that a restaurant that operates in this area has to take into account the type of customers that frequent their establishment. These types of actions degrade the trust of the locals and greatly damage their image as a restaurant.
Despite the fact that the manager offered me something else as compensation, I made it clear that I only wanted a refund. I am not looking for any additional compensation, in fact, I don't know if what they offer me as compensation has also been returned by another table.
Although it is true that this incident was not pleasant for me and my family, I want to say that maybe one day I will return, but only when I start to see that the reviews exceed 4 points and I do not see comments similar to this one.
Bento in Lake Nona has dropped the quality of service too much in the last few years and they have to do something if they want to survive...
Read moreWe went there to celebrate my Granddaughter's 14th birthday. We started ordering around 6:15. We were a party of 10 comprised of myself along with my 2 Son's and their families (5 in one family and 4 in the other). One Son's family (5) ordered first, followed by the other one then myself with each on separate tickets. My food as well as the order for 5 arrived in approximately 10 mins. Then one entree of for my Son's order came out about 5 mins later. The other 2 meals, which happened to include dishes for my 8 and 5 yr old granddaughters took another 15 minutes !!! During that time my son asked repeatedly as to why the missing dishes were not coming out. He was initially told that the kitchen was backed up with orders. Wow how long does it take to cook 2 orders of teriyaki chicken with noodles !!! The place was not that busy. This turned out to be a lie. My Son was finally able to speak to a Mgr named Natalie. She ultimately admitted that the ticket had been closed in error without the dishes being made. Even though she gave him a $30 gift card for a future visit, his two dishes should have been free tonight ... Whose to say he was coming back. We collectively spent over $100 there and that offer wasn't sufficient. While all of this was going on my other Son ordered some additional egg rolls and spring rolls. And wouldn't you know the spring rolls were served cold. This was by far the worst dining experience I've had at one of your restaurants. The lying about the order delay still has me shaking my head. You will not keep repeat Customers for long if this is the expected/accepted level of service for your Corporation. Still debating on my future visit. This was by far one of the worst restaurant visits that I've experienced and I'm 65 yrs young not to mention the damper that it put on my Granddaughter's birthday dinner...
Read moreMy fiance, her mother and myself went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The fact that there was nobody there should have been a clue. First, the ordering system is very confusing. I ordered pad Thai but adding and removing ingredients was confusing. On the menu there's a button that says no carrots and my first reading of it meant that there were no carrots and so I had to add carrots but when I talked to the young woman who worked there she said no, you just hit that if you don't want any carrots. But it was still confusing because there was a quantity associated with it. So I could have ordered three no carrots? I guess that's to really make sure that you don't get any carrots. When I got the chicken Pad Thai it was okay. Kind of pedestrian honestly. The sauce tasted like you just add water and stir. It was way way too sweet for a Pad Thai and not nearly as spicy as it could have been and I ordered the hottest you could get. Noodles were very overcooked so there was no real body to it. I couldn't even use chopsticks because the noodles slimed out my grip. If I'm going to pay almost $20 for a Pad Thai I'd appreciate if it's something at least enjoyable and this definitely wasn't. My fiance ordered the TNT roll and she said it had absolutely no flavor. I actually commented when it arrived that it looked like they just dumped some Rice Krispies on top. She hates soy sauce on sushi but she actually put some on to give it something. If you're looking for sushi go across the street to Escobar inside the bravo market. So much better, cheaper and everything is made fresh. Our meal in total was almost $70 for the three of us and definitely not worth it. There are too many options in Lake Nona which are fantastic to settle for something that's average at best. We all agreed at the table that we...
