I have never been a gym goer, and would rather watch paint dry then to go pick up heavy weights and put them down over and over again for what feels like eternity. Almost, if not all, my exercise came from playing ice hockey prior. However, I hit the 35 year old mark and for the first time in my life I started feeling my body start locking up and slowing down, and I felt myself getting old... Especially trying to keep up with all the 18 year old's I was playing against. It was a harsh reality check but knew I had to start working out more seriously and often. Looking around the area, I looked into the biggest gym, Crunch (yawn), Orange Theory, Crossfit, F45, and even looked into personal trainers. I knew I wasn't going to be motivated enough for the regular gym, even with a trainer yelling in my ear. Being naturally a competitive person, the other gyms peaked my interest as a possible solution. I really wanted to not only lose weight, but gain lean muscle. Orange Theory seemed geared strictly towards cardio, with little muscle building, so it came down to F45 and Crossfit. Honestly, all 3 shocked me when I saw their (similar) fees per month. So you are not surprised, none of them are cheap. It is definitely an investment that personally forced me to attend 4-5x a week to even be worth it. I ultimately picked F45 because I wanted to lean out, build my endurance, and avoid getting hurt, as I have had many friends/teammates who have gone down getting injured with Crossfit. Did not regret the decision. F45 has been a blast with a lot of friendships made. Prior to COVID when I first joined, I went down 14 lbs within roughly 3 months. I put it all back on during the lockdown, plus some (oops), butttttt lost 21+ lbs when I returned and still going. I would almost compare F45 to P90x if they had live group classes as the closest comparison of a gym setting. The owner and daily trainers are all very friendly and open to any questions/concerns. I find group cliques can form but you can go at different times throughout the day and move around the room during warmups and get paired with new people for a chance to meet everyone. Thankfully, I have never run into any issues with any other members and find everyone is very friendly and we all seem to be there for the same reasons. Would never go back to a 'normal' gym setting and would vouch for F45 without hesitation. Think they offer a free week so is worth checking out at...
Read moreWorst place ever! If you want to try F45 then go to the one in Baldwin Park, I had a great experience there. I live in lake Nona and have given this location 5 chances to have a good experience and every time it has been bad. I bought an 8 class package, I had only used 3 classes and then I had a medical procedure done where I was unable to workout. I called to explain This was a medical reason, NOT something where I just got busy and didn’t go, At first she was willing to work with me for the remaining 5 classes but once she knew that there wasn’t an auto renew then she wldnt help me. Normally. I wouldn’t complain after this incident but what comes next took the cake. The woman at f45 lake Nona told me those remaining 5 wld be lost BUT also tried to tell me she was gonna charge me for another month for auto billing which I NEVER signed up for. It was just a one time, 8 classes for the month. She tried to fight me that I would be charged bc I didn’t give a 30 day notice, well I refused to take that for an answer bc I KNOW I didn’t sign anything saying that! I immediately called my bank for this. Be Careful of this location! The girls running it are sharks! I will say this: the guy trainers that are in the evening are the best thing about the lake Nona location. I never had a single issue at the Baldwin...
