I canāt believe Iāve driven past this restaurant so many times, not knowing it was soon to be my favorite place. Iām just blown away! Each small bowl is plenty of food and priced under $10. How often can you eat unique, fresh, and healthy meals for under $10? I can tell you itās hard to find but when I do find it, I promptly post a review.
I ordered the Vegan, the Garden, and made my own creation with the forbidden black rice, mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts since those items are not in the first two bowls. I didnāt even add sauce to anything because the flavor was so good I forgot I was supposed to add sauce.
The forbidden rice is to die for. I thought they put one of the sauces I ordered on it so I called to ask but they did not. It just comes perfectly flavored because they cook it in coconut milk, tamari, and ginger.
The tofu...Iām so picky about tofu and they nailed it, thank God. It has a perfect texture and flavor.
Kale- itās kind of salad-like, again perfectly flavored.
Broccoli- cooked just soft enough for my baby to use it as a teether yet firm enough to retain the nutrition.
Cilantro noodles- my son loved them. What a great way to sneak in some extra greens.
Potatoes- yummy. I would have liked the garlic herb sauce or cilantro sauce with them but they shine solo.
Brussel sprouts- this is the only one I think needs a sauce lol. Very bitter by design but cooked crispy-tender and healthy for you.
Definitely give your support to one of the few restaurants in the area that support true healthy living!
Edit: the day after I wrote this review I placed another order! This time, all of the food was warm which was a surprise to me since I thought the bowls were served cold (thatās how it was served yesterday- guess the uber Eats driver did not use a thermal bag). Suffice to say, itās good no matter the temperature (but warm is better!). Iām looking forward to dining in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood is ok....but if youāre part of the healthy population that is scientifically proven that you donāt need to wear a mask, this is not the place for a pleasant experience. Even tho the governor lifted the fines for not wearing a mask, they will still force you to wear one. Good thing is that MOEāS is right next to them. They have delicious and super healthy food options, and they will allow you to order without a mask if you canāt wear one. They say, if weāre allowing people eat in here without a mask, you can order without a mask. THANK YOU MOEāS for such a logical response and for the awesome prices and experience too, you just won a new customer today. I have like 3 other friends that stopped going to Bolay for the same reasons. Bolayās logic: āThe virus will not touch you while sitting, but it will while ordering, so please use your mask when orderingā. After almost 8 months of this craziness, it is time to start moving forward and put an end to some of this nonsense. Stay safe, eat well, and do your best to remain healthy every single day of your life, or you will panic when you hear the word...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBolay is a "chipotle" concept. You pick a base, protein and topping. Their spin is a more healthy concept. The bases were varied from kale, quinoa, rice and even a korean style sweet potato noodle. The proteins were varied: bbq chicken, pork, steak, thai shrimp. On the protein side they upsell options for the premium proteins (steak and shrimp). I got a big bowl: 2 bases, 2 proteins, 1 topping and 1 sauce. I got quinoa, the sweet potato noodles, bbq chicken, pork & tomatoes and spicy thai sauce. Overall I liked my meal. It was tasty one thing to be careful is to be sure that ingredients aren't burnt. My co workers got the broccoli and both of them didn't touch it b/c it was burnt. I mentioned it to a worker and she offered to get more broccoli but my co workers were not desiring any more broccoli and the worker did nothing else. Sodas were all good and the stubborn mule cola reminded me of a RC type of cola, a little more sweet than a coke and more on the pepsi end of colas. In spite of the broccoli and less than stellar response about the broccoli I would still...
