I started this as a generous 3 star but switched to a 1 star after writing the review and reliving the experience.
I really really wanted this to be good! I was super excited that we got a Brazilian Steakhouse in St George. I loved the popular restaurant chains in Salt Lake and Vegas (different names). I knew it would be expensive but was willing to pay if it was worth it. Unfortunately, IT WAS NOT. I will not be back.
The thing that bothered me most about the previous Mexican restaurant was the strong chlorine smell coming from the hotel pool. I assumed that they would do something to remedy this with the new restaurant. They did not. Immediately upon entering the smell was that familiar chlorine. It is not appetizing. Granted, it appears that they put up a few new partitions but it still has open air to the pool. I should have left at this point.
The ambiance is non existence. The wooden partition with cattle brands to separate the waiting area from the salad bar is the only thing that was added. It feels like a pop up restaurant that is waiting for its next location to be completed. It looks like it's doubles as the same location for the motel continental breakfast in the morning.
They are brand new so I imagine that they're still working out the kinks. The service has a lot to improve on. We were seated and received no instruction, menus or anything. The server showed up to get our drink order after about 7 minutes. Meanwhile we had the Gauchos bringing meat skewers by asking if we wanted some. We said we would love it... If we had a plate. We never did get any sort of menu. That led me to be a little surprised by the $4 price for a small glass of refillable lemonade. The same small glass of refillable soda was $3. The servers did their best to keep up with refills but they were overloaded and unable to be very attentive. We occasionally saw other tables receive baskets of items and it left us curious what we were missing out on. When we asked, the server said they're giving some tables the Brazilian fries and deserts but they're too busy to do it for everyone. Again, we never saw a menu so I'm not sure what else was available.
The salad bar has a decent variety but the containers are small so it seemed that they were constantly having to refill. Most everything is self explanatory but there a few things that could really benefit from a label. I had no idea what a few items were.
We eventually went up to the salad bar and grabbed plates so that we could enjoy the meat. The first 3 that we grabbed were dirty. They had residual food that hadn't completely washed off from the previous guest. Gross! !
The meat was good but didn't strike me as premium by any means. I think there were 7-8 different options to choose from but not all of the items that there website said that they offer. A few were really good. Most were way too tough or extremely fatty. The website says, multiple times, to ask about their wagyu steak. We asked and they said they didn't have it.
To top things off my finger got sliced by one of the Gauchos. I suppose it might have been partially my fault but it doesn't seem like it's my responsibility to prevent that. I held my tongs in a stationary position and then he sliced the meat... and my finger! It seems to me that he should adjust the angle of the sharp knife or tell me to move my hand slightly. It bled throughout the rest of the meal. My wife asked for a bandaid but we never got it. I just applied direct pressure in between bites.
We were never offered dessert and didn't see a menu so I can't review those.
Mr. Bundy himself was very friendly and has an upbeat personality as he goes from table to table with a skewer.
$200 plus tip for 4 of us!! Only 3 non alcoholic drinks. It is one of the most expensive restaurants in the city. There's far better options for less. This is absolutely not worth the money. I told my boys that I'll take them to a real quality Brazilian Steakhouse in...
Read moreMy wife and I had high hopes for this place given that she wanted a steak and looking at Google, we found this place and we thought we'd give it a try, we've been to rodigio, and so we thought we would give it a try. walking into this place it seemed like a Mexican restaurant we were seated promptly and gave drink orders and we're invited to the salad bar. At the salad bar, a lot of the items like the salads, the spinach. We're all wilted, and curled up. The macaroni and potato salad was crusted over like it had been sitting out for some time. The cheese was discolored and hardened. If you leave cheeses out that's how they get and other food items on display for the buffet didn't look appetizing, looked like it had been sitting for some time. We sat back down at the table and flipped the puck to the green for the servers to bring over meat. The first item we were given the choice to have was the parmesan sirloin. When we tried it, it was extremely dry and hard. So we set it aside, and we're waiting for other food to come around. They brought out chicken hearts, cheese and honey, parmesan chicken filet Lamb chops Barbecue chicken bacon wrapped pork among other meats The only thing that was good and seemed fresh was the parmesan chicken. That was very good. The whole time we were waiting for food to come around. We were battling flies. It was like World War 2 and Pearl Harbor, the kamikazes of flies, swatting them did nothing only aggravated them to enhance their attack. All of the meats had a weird taste to them like the meat was over, tender or over stale past the due date and cooked and then served, the filet that I tried I don't know how to describe it, but I had to spit it out and wash my mouth, My palate. It was revolting. The whole time we were sitting there, my wife and I were discussing to get up and leave. We were uncomfortable at the quality of food and didn't think the price point was adequate for the quality of food that was being served and frequently thought about getting sick off the food we were being served after about 10 minutes my wife and I couldn't take it anymore. I got up and went to the hostess and expressed my concern and talked to the manager who she went and brought out. The manager was very nice. I offered to pay for the food that we did consume. Although minuscule, but I felt bad because we did get drinks and we're there for about 15 maybe 20 minutes. I was more than happy to pay something. I just couldn't pay the full price. Given the dissatisfaction. The manager did offer us to just leave and not pay anything. However, I felt it was necessary to pay something at the end of all this. I ended up paying fifty dollars for one meal and my wife and I went down the street to Texas Roadhouse. I am very sorry for this honest, damaging review. It did look like the restaurant had plenty of people there. That seemed happy. I guess my wife's and mine palate is finer tastes then others, but we couldn't stay there any longer. I don't feel as if the price that I paid. Was fair for the amount consumed Given the experience that the wife and I endured, if that is your dining tastes, then this is the place to eat, but as for the wife and I, we'll take our business elsewhere. As stated before, we did look on Google and saw that this place had good ratings. So we thought we were safe to try it out, given that so many people loved it. My opinion, as the health department needs to come in anonymously. Then take a crack at it, and hopefully they...
Read moreVisited Bundys tonight. I rate it a Saint George 4 star. Ide give it a Vegas ,or salt lake 3.5 .Coming here I wouldnt expect Texas De brazil, or Fogo de Chao. This is a mom and pop ran restaurant feel. The service is amazing from the meat slicers. Michael was funny, informative and took my critique of a peiece of meat I had. Honest review Cuts of meat : Taste was great, from filet mignon to tri tip, to all the way to crusted Parmesan chicken and shrimp, (which was okay ,but not something I would go for on purpose) There were lots of differnt meats to choose from. The only meat that I wouldnt get is the lamb chop. Very bland, very dry. My favorite was the filet mignon, well seasoned and if possible, take home worthy for another meal!
Sides: Grilled Gouda cheese drizzled with honey, fantastic! There is a traditioanl Brazilian rice ,beans and raosted cassava flour with bacon that is quite the treat of you try it. Salad bar was regular, 6/10. There were these fried dough and chicken balls that looked good but ,the meat was a bit dry. However it is a traditional Brazilian food and it tatse so,so. The main sides: chicken stroganoff 2/10, plantains7/10, carbonara4/10 mashed potatoes 4/10 and Steamed asparagus could have been grilled and squirted with a little lemon.
Customer service: freaking amazing, very nice people. Again,Michael great service and even better energy. Definitely a family establishment.
Ideas: I would suggest some grilled veggies on a skewer. I think it would add a fresher fill and fill in the gaps where meat is not ready yet. Perhaps bell peppers, onions, "Asparagus". I dont think having Waygu as an, " Ask about me" type of meat is beneficial. Put the price and let it sale itself. The ambiance is ok, very lowkey and seems old and bit tired. Decor is bland, and needs a little face lift. Overall ,I think it is a awseome establishment on its way to becoming a Saint George staple. My last critic, if any is to take some of the feedback and dont be afraid to switch up those sides so that they truly compliment your entrees. Thanks for...
