My family and I had the most unpleasant experience at Los Tapatios this past Saturday. We wanted to give this restaurant a try because of the good reviews. We had a reservation for 6:30 PM for a party of 10, which was confirmed over the phone. We arrived on time, expecting to be seated promptly, but were told we needed to wait 15-20 minutes. We were okay with that.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning in the restaurant was broken, and it was sweltering hot inside—especially on a day where it was 105 degrees outside. We were all sweating and miserable, including our baby and three other young children, who were visibly uncomfortable in the heat. The situation raised serious concerns about the freshness and safety of the food in such high temperatures.
We ended up waiting for over 40 minutes, well beyond our reservation time and the waiting time they had given us. During this period, we watched as smaller groups, who arrived after us and had no reservations, were seated before us. This was frustrating, to say the least.
When I approached a staff member to inquire about our table, I was told to continue waiting until another large party finished their meal. No effort was made to expedite our seating, nor was any consideration given to our situation despite having a baby and children with us. We were not even offered water or any gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience.
After 50 minutes of waiting in such uncomfortable conditions, we decided to leave and went to another Mexican restaurant across the street, where we were seated instantly and enjoyed a properly air-conditioned environment.
Overall, this was the worst restaurant experience we’ve ever had where we had already had a reservation. The lack of organization, care, and basic hospitality was shocking. I cannot recommend this restaurant in good conscience and would advise others to steer clear, especially on hot days or with a larger group. Bring a sleeping bag and a tent if you've got a big group, because you're going to be there a while. Oh and a high powered fan. To the staff, don't offer reservations if you don't have the resources to have tables ready in a...
Read moreThis was our first time trying Los Tapadios Mexican Restaurant ( we recently completed building a house in the area)- we have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant in the St George area. After reading the stellar reviews we decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed 😋.
We arrived just before noon and we were promptly seated in a booth. The restaurant has a mix of booths and tables. They were very accommodating to my needs as a wheelchair user ( and the spacing allowed easy navigation of the restaurant).
You server was with us almost immediately. They got a started with drinks, chips and salsa- the salsa is 🔥.
The menu is quite exhaustive but has such a good selection for any diet ( except maybe vegan). Each section is clearly labeled chicken, beef, seafood, vegetarian, etc. There's so many good options it was hard to decide.
We ended up ordering the cheese dip ( queso) as an appetizer, and nachos and seafood burrito as the entrees. We also got a side of chipotle sauce and Verde sauce. The food was absolutely delicious and very generous portions. I have to say that the queso and chipotle sauce were my favorite.
The service throughout the meal was impeccable.
The only thing that I didn't care for was the bloody Mary. Just wasn't my cup of tea.
Everyone agreed we'd go back to Los Tapadios -which is saying something because it's rare in my family to return to a restaurant. We have very high standards as we eat out very...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped for dinner here on our trip the first week of January! All we can say is wow what an amazing experience we had. The wait was minimal on a Friday night maybe 5-10 minutes at the most.
The amazing artwork on the tables and chairs all around the restaurant was so beautiful and the entire restaurant was well decorated so amazingly.
Our waiter was Beto and he gave us such amazing service and made sure we were happy with our meals, drinks and appetizers.
We had the Triple Dipper with white queso, guacamole dip & refried beans topped with cotija cheese and plenty of delicious homemade tortilla chips.
We ordered the Molcajete and it was fabulous and delicious and highly recommend it you will not be disappointed or left hungry by the time you are done.
