We came in for breakfast and ordered our food. We could barely read the menu because the writing was so small. That wasn't really an issue until we got our food dropped off to us. We got the banana French toast that we have had multiple times and it was great. This time we decided to split it between us because we couldn't eat the whole thing the last time we came in. When the food came out there was an extra plate with stuff we didn't order and the banana French toast on a separate plate. We were given an extra plate so we divided up the food and began eating it. The waitress came back to our table and said she mistakenly gave us the wrong order. She then proceeded to take the half divided up plate away and made us put the food back onto the plate that we had already divided up . We could hear them on the back laughing and joking about how she screwed up . We did not think it was funny. After their chuckle in the back we watched her take the SAME plate out to another customer! Then proceeded to tell him what she did. After this incident she never returned to give us our check. We waited and waited, no refill on drinks or coffee ! I had to go to a different table to get condiments, there was no syrup or ketchup or creamer for our coffee on our table or brought out to us with our food! We got up and went to the front counter finally to pay our bill and waited for someone to come help us check out. We should have complained at the time of service but it was so bizarre the way we were treated and ignored ! I have never had a restaurant bring the wrong food to my table and take it away to give to the proper person! Especially after we had eaten off the plate and divided it up! I would not have appreciated that being the recipient of food given to a stranger and then served to me after they had eaten off the plate! Like I said normally Great service and food but this time was terrible! Not sure if we will...
Read moreI would recommend going elsewhere for breakfast. First off, we had to wait over an hour for our food. To even order we had to wait 20ish minutes. We got in a little before 9:00 and left after 10:30. The waiter was not attentive. Would disappear for a while and then come out in a rush apologizing about keeping us waiting.
After ordering our food and waiting over 30 minutes my wife and I were informed that they were actually out of hash browns and they only had enough biscuits for my wife’s meal. I got a breakfast skillet, and when it was brought out there was no tri tip. They took it back and added it. Looks like I got the scraps. It was dry and had little flavor. There was hardly any cheese and they then informed me they were out of salsa verde. Somehow my over hard eggs were cooked inconsistently. One was not even cooked all the way, the other was way over cooked.
My wife got the southern Benedict. Her side of country potatoes were not cooked all the way through (literally they were still hard), the biscuits were dry and overcooked, the over easy eggs were cooked all the way through, and there was hardly any gravy and the gravy looked a day old.
We were never asked how our food was, no offer of a refund, no complimentary things to make up for anything. We even had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for the check. I have never thought about dining and dashing but this place made me consider it. Also way overpriced for the quality of food...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped by here with our kids. It’s really solid for a BBQ style place in this price range. I’d take it over Dickey’s all day, every day.
I got the Chicken Fried Steak. I think it’s a good dish to judge little dinners and restaurants by. Lots of places will use terrible ingredients, and even just have pre-battered and frozen patties. This place used a legit cube steak and the batter seemed to be their own. Of all the places I’ve tried Chicken Fried Steak when I travel this one is one of the best (a top contender is at a place called Sal’s Dinner in Kenia, Alaska - hope it’s still as good as it was 10 years ago).
With all of us ordering we tried the tots, battered fries, sweet potato fries, and funeral potatoes. They were all really good. All the fried sides were nice and crispy, but not over cooked. The funeral potatoes were creamy and really cheesy, but not too strongly seasoned (which I think makes for a more versatile side that goes with more dishes). The ranch we got for our kids to dip their tots into was actually really good as well - another small item showing their attention to detail on their menu.
My wife really liked her cheeseburger. She mentioned that the patty was well seasoned and delicious. She said the sweet potato fries were some of the best she has ever had. We’ll definitely come back whenever we come down to visit St George so we can try...
