RC'S Lunch Car — Restaurant in Saint Joseph

This place is very good. A local gem that I hope stays open for a long time. Their banana milkshake is amazing! I really like the shrimp, tacos- fresh and tasty! My husband really enjoyed the patty melt, but did not really like the fries. The staff is friendly. The food came out quick and the facility is clean. I've never had a disappointing meal here. With that being said, my single complaint does not have to do with the food or service or atmosphere, but with how the owner talked to his employee. I overheard one employee tell the owner something along the lines of "I try my best everyday and I'm learning new things everyday", the owner responded with "You need to do your best consistently". Which I thought was pretty condescending to say to someone who just told you they are doing their best. I overheard this interaction while the employee was cleaning after hours. My husband and I were finishing our meal after the restaurant had closed the evening of 5/9. I know that the owner has had clashes with his employees in the past, which could explain why they are often short-staffed. But that has nothing to do with their food or service or atmosphere which are all great. Just wanting to let the owner know what...

We were from out of town. We found this place on Google. The reviews made us want to try it out. We wanted a diner type of experience, with freshly prepared food in a clean homey atmosphere. It was just what we wanted.They greeted us and welcomed us when we came in. We ate there late afternoon(about 4:30 pm) on a Wednesday. We had the place to ourselves due to the time of day, but there were carry out orders going out the door. My one friend ordered a Rueben. She said it was the best she has ever had. My other friend has a burger. I had shrimp tacos. Both of these were great tasting and presented well. We all had hand cut fries. They were great and huge portions! We took some home! Also the sandwiches were so big that my friends took some home. My one friend ordered a root beer float, t came in a frosted mug with the ice cream in the mug and the cold can of pop separate. Perfect! She could keep pouring it in to keep it a creamy beverage, like she wanted! This place is so great! Everything was just as it should be, clean, welcoming, great food and service! Retro Diner with speedy service! Had lunch there today with family, I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and my wife had the loaded fries, which arrived hot and tasty! Kids had the classic cheeseburger and fries, slightly pricey but the food was delicious. We all shared a chocolate malt for dessert! You can self order through the kiosk or by using QR code with your phone, which makes the ordering process smooth and very personalized as you can select all the toppings you want or don't want on your sandwich, etc. The food came out pretty quickly. Self-serve water station and silverware. I know some might rather be served, but the freedom to order when you want and personalize without any miscommunication can be freeing. My ONLY negative comment would be that the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, the rest of the restaurant was clean...
