We will never step foot in this place again! The wife and I used to eat here once a week for there $1 taco nights. We hadn't been there for awhile but mentioned it to a group of us to use it for our meeting. What a mistake that was. We were told it was ok to use the back room since the lobby was basically empty anyways and didn't have any reservations. Once we were seated and ordered drinks then the waitress tells us unless we order food we will be charged $100 for the room. So reluctantly 5 of 7 of us order food. After only 3 of us actually get our food, then the waitress tells us the manager wanted to express that we would be charged the $100 because we didn't order full meals. When we requested to speak with the manager and tried to resolve the issue peacefully, the manager (Shannon) immediately got an attitude, started yelling and cursing at our group, and then says she's going to call the owner. When the owner shows up he addressed the issue, tells Shannon to just let it go, as she is continueing to badger and ridicule us, then the owner says "Shannon just let it go, you'll never win with people like this"! After that statement we all (the group) decide its best to just leave. As we go to the front to pay for our bills, the manager (Shannon) yells "make sure they pay, they seem like the type to just run off". Never have I not paid for my bill, never even a thought. Especially, to a small business. But after this experience my family and friends will never step foot in this place again. They will not ever get $1 of my...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE. Seriously, if you have any self respect and/or any love for Mexican cuisine, this is not the place for you. Let's start with the chips and salsa. Gag. Seriously. I could eat chips and salsa until I figuratively throw up, but this pair nearly made me literally throw up. The chips were stale(?) or at least so thick that they were like biting through wood. The salsa resembled ketchup. No spice or flavor to speak of.
I ordered a chicken chimichanga. It was probably the nastiest chimichanga I have EVER eaten. The chicken was POACHED. People! Chicken for Mexican dishes should NOT be poached. It should be grilled or browned in a skillet, but never poached. I don't even think they used clean water to boil it. AND it had not one bit of seasoning on it. No salt, no garlic, no cumin. Nada. It was flavorless (except for the old water). The beans were runny and the rice was dry.
My husband ordered a steak and fries. The steak had apparently been in the freezer a little too long. The flavor was drained. Then on top of that, they overcooked it, so it was like shoe leather. The fries had been undercooked in OLD oil. Old, almost rancid oil.
If this is the best St. Joseph has to offer in the way of Mexican food, take a pass. Drive south. Drive north. Drive any direction as fast as you can AWAY from this place and try some GOOD Mexican. ANY place has to be...
Read moreSo we went to this restaurant last Wednesday because my brother was in town from CA and my parents just moved here. Well we have tried this place 2 other times and the food was pretty good. Well this time we tried it and the food was not very good in fact my mom and my brother didn't want to go bags because it was soo bad. And they had quite a bit on their plates. And my dad was disappointed because he had no cheese in his taco's which he has had Mexican food many times and never seen that before. And my kids had the kids grilled cheese sandwiches and they complained that they barely had any cheese on the bread. My mom was even saying she thought it was ridiculous how long we even had to wait for the food. At first I didn't really notice because I was munching on the chips but after a while I thought good grief it seems to be taking a while. We are thinking they got new cooks and they obviously have a lot of learning to do. I know my family said they wont be coming back to this place. I will say mine wasn't too bad though. I had the chicken bob.Hopefully we can find a much better Mexican restaurant in town. Very sad since I was told they did have some of...
