Denny's — Restaurant in Saint Paul

I usually never place reviews ever I feel like most people are over dramatic or Karen’s in their reviews, but I first came to this location a year ago and the service was very slow i remember I had to wait like 20 plus minutes just to get my order taken and probably another 15 for the food but overall my Server was a skinny tall black woman and I tipped her 20 bucks she was nice.. at least that time, so I came in today after a year and I’m a skinny tall young black man I usually eat at least once a day sometimes twice after my mma workouts, anyways I seat myself and there a weird smell there it’s always a weird smell but I wait 7 minutes until I got up and ask to be serviced they hand me a menu and I guess you’re supposed to wait until they come up to you?! I waited and for prospective I tried for two days to get a order but they were closed to low staffing so I had this in my mind I was gonna try to get a big meal in all day long so I wait another 10 minutes until I see the same lady who served me last time I ask can she place my order and she was hesitant and let a different server take my order she a black lady looks to be around my age think she has an accent, she has a short pony tail with nose piercing. she takes my order and everything seem to be fine for a tip I get my pancakes and there’s like a fishy smell to the plate but I had two plates and I used the other and the pancakes I got were cinnamon rolls, way too much frosting so it ruined it a bit for me but after scrapping it off i finished it the pancakes it self were ok just way too much frosting! So I was really hungry and I paid 13$ for the meal so the same server comes to me and ask if I need a drink refill I said yes and I asked her if she could also make another stack of 2 pancakes but just the regular buttermilk because i didn’t care for the cinnamon rolls she says “I can’t tell you surely ate them” 🤨 I paid 13$ for the meal on a empty stomach ofc ima gonna eat it even if i slightly disliked them?! So it was a weird comment to make so once she came back I just asked for the bill she asked what happened because she knew that was a little extra I came to actually eat as I planned to and I had in my mind for days but that comment wasn’t extreme but i should be able to eat without making me feel bad for PAYING FOR MY OWN FOOD!! I paid no tip and she seemed to be mad afterwards not an extreme comment but I’m not gonna spend my money somewhere where I’m getting patronized lol 😂 it is what it...

When i cane in there only one group besides me. They served me but over an hour passed and they did not check up on me or take my order and yet walked by me several times. Finally one guy came by and despite me saying i would like to order he still took another 20 minutes despite saying he would be right back. So i got fed up and went to pay for the ONE cup of coffee i got initially that they never refilled and he came in from outside the place only to have the ball totell me to let them know next time. I shouldn't have had to! It was VERY obvious i was waiting for them. My coffee cup was even empty!

Edit: Decided to give them a second chance. They had one waitress and one cook and alot of customers. It took awhile for the waitress to take my order. That was understsndable. The problem is that I ordered a burger with regular bacon and jalapenoes and no onions. When i got my burger it still had the onions despite me clearly saying to not put them on and the higher costing jalapeno bacon. So I decided to just take out the onions and eat it because i wasn't willing to wait another 30 minutes to an hour just for them to get it right. Then when i finally confronted the waitress about it when i was done and was going to pay, she was very rude. She asked why i ate the burger and why i didnt get ahold of her because apparently all the customers had their food. How the hell was i supposed to know that? I dont stare at every other customers checking to see if they had all the food they ordered nor do i even know what they ordered. Furthermore, why should i, as a customer, seek her out to tell her she wasn't doing her job? She did not table touch me at all the entire time and was acting like work was a bother to her. I don't care if she is the only waitress. I expect her to do her job and make sure customers get what they ordered even if it takes a bit longer to do so. This just further cements my opinion that people should not go to eat here. The service is horrible, the prices are way too high for the quality you get from the staff, and they don't care whether they get your order wrong or not. It is unacceptable. This waitress in particular needs to be fired. Last tine she served me, she gave me a smartass remark about if i was going to tip her that night. Well, if that is the case then no i am not and no i will not...

Lady and her small child were complaining. The lady asked for scrambled and bacon was not cooked. The lady was upset. We also watched her having to wave down her waitress while another was running around. We have noticed no team work between the waitresses. Their is a sign wait to be seated. You are waiting and we were ignored for a while. Cooks, waitresses saw us waiting and noone decided to help for almost 10min of waiting.

We waited 27min until our waitress decided to come and take our order. We saw guests at 3/4 different tables. So no excuse for ignoring your guests, no excuse to argue with them.

I ordered steak- medium, mash potatoes, broccoli with a side salad. Way to much cheese on the salad but it was ok.

The other critic ordered the french roast slam and a green smoothie

We are hearing the table infront of us complaining that eggs were supposed to come with their meal and they were getting charged more for them.

I understand the area is not a very good area but everyone deserves to be treated respectfully.

I did reach out to dennys customer service and explained the above and more..

It took us almost an hour to even get our food.

French toast slam- bacon not crispy, middle was eggy

Steak- definitely was not medium, steak was fatty with no flavor, mash potatos were slopped on plate no seasoning or butter, no garlic bread which happens .broccoli over cooked with no seasoning or butter. Food was horrible.

We have not been asked if we needed refills we have been here for hour and half. We did hear the waitress asking another table if they wanted refills.

Another staff came to the floor he was in back or at the counter now he is going around asking guests if they needed anything. Now people are being asked for refills, if they needed anything. Waitresses are trying to be friendly could be due to a tech/ecolab showed up.

Now its an hour and 40min no refills on water, but waitress did finally bring a bill. We are thirsty and now have to make a stop to get something cold to drink.
