My first experience was great! I was not really impressed with the beef dishes but my waitress was really friendly and great !!
My second experience didn't go so well. It was 630pm when my little family of 3 went in for dinner. The place was empty and everyone was seated a table away from each other. After sitting down, we waited for a good 2-3 minutes or so before our waitress brought out beverages ( water ). Instead of 3 cups, she only brought out 2. My son didn't get his own cup of water until another customers came and sat a table away from us. The other customers wasn't even in the restaurant for a good 5 minutes and they were served right away. Drinks and their order taken. Instead of asking us if we we're ready, she went to a table across from us and took their orders and then left. Mind you: She was constantly everywhere where it was difficult flagg her down and she was the only server.
After waiting 10 minutes, she finally came to our table. My husband order first and I order next. I asked what was in the beef stew hot pot as I was debating between the hot pot or hong kong beef. Instead of answering in a nice way trying to explain, she was more yelling stating that it's not your regular stir fry. It's beef stew. It's a SOUP! Not a beef dish. It got to the point where I said forget it, I will take the Hong Kong Beef.
At this time, another family of 3 was just seated as well. They were waiting as long as my family did. The server completely forgot all about them until one of their cell phone went off. She finally remember, apologize and did her best to make it up to them. That includes taking their orders and bringing out their food first. We order appetizers which we did not received and the other family of 3 order fried rice and it was brought out before our appetizers. We waited 2 minutes after their friend rice to received our appetizers. Not just that, she brought our appetizers to the wrong table and fussed when they told her they didn't order Cheese Puffs.
Overall, my table was the last one to received all of our food. The experience this time was not the greatest. When I saw that we we're not being served like everyone, I was thinking about leaving and go somewhere where my money will be more worth it. But because we already order, I stayed since I didn't want to be rude. Next time, I won't even...
Read moreYears ago, my family would dine here for special occasions. We haven't been to HoHo's for a while, so my family reserved for my father's birthday. We were happy to know they were willing to accommodate about 20 of us (adults & children).
The food seemed very salty to our likings, and did not taste as well as we remembered it. We had the typical Chinese American dishes ordered - orange chicken, lo mein, chicken wings, etc.
Initially, the staff was very polite. They even brought a knife and plates for us to cut the cake for my father. The mood and atmosphere immediately changed at the end when my sister asked them to split the bill...
I don't think most people are able to pay for a total bill of 20 people. The staff spoke in their native language, however, you can tell the waitress was angry by constantly shouting to her coworker and also mentioning ''TIP''. She kept going to the back kitchen, and out to the front slamming the door. It scared my nieces and my nephew, and even the other customers seemed concerned.
We still tipped at the end, combined at least $100. I really was disappointed at how it ended for us to celebrate my father's birthday. The food is not enough for us to come back unfortunately, and especially not with that customer service we received at the end...
Read moreMy mother, children and my ex husband went to this establishment one Sunday expecting great food and service. We had a Tex here in the past so it was good back then. But this experience was really bad. We got a table on tone and was sat. The waitress was very friendly but DID NOT listen to detail. We ordered drinks and the server forgot my ex husband’s drink for more than 20 min. Then they did NOT have two items on the menus that my mothers wanted. She wanted the fried shrimp and next the fried fish with the head on. And neither were available. So then she asked for the steak fish. My mother asked how much it was because the price was not on the menu. The sever never told her and then proceeded to ring her up and give her the fish. Long Story short. The price was on a sticky note at the front counter and NOT ON THE MENUE! $45 for a steak fish! They refute compensate her in any way because the price was NOT visible for customers to see on the menus but in the front of the restaurant! We will never come back! Kong’s Kitchen on Arcade in East St. Paul will always have our busy now! Prices are clear on the menu and presentation and taste are...
