I recently visited Karibu and I have to say, it was an absolute delight! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the owners were friendly and attentive. But what really stole the show were the amazing sandwiches and food items on the menu.
First, let's talk about the Philly sandwiches. These were hands down the best Philly sandwiches I have ever tasted. The bread was perfectly toasted and the meat was juicy and flavorful. I tried both the classic Philly cheesesteak and the chicken Philly, and they were both absolutely delicious. The toppings were fresh and perfectly proportioned, adding just the right amount of crunch and flavor to each bite. I especially loved the melty cheese, which really brought everything together.
But the Philly sandwiches weren't the only star of the show. I also tried the samosas, and they were simply amazing. The pastry was perfectly crispy and flaky, and the filling was bursting with flavor. I loved the mix of spices and the way they complemented each other perfectly. And the goat meat with rice? Oh my goodness. The goat meat was incredibly tender and the spices were so well balanced. It was definitely one of the best goat meat dishes I have ever had.
Overall, I would highly recommend Karibu to anyone looking for amazing sandwiches and delicious food. The Philly sandwiches, samosas, and goat meat with rice were all outstanding. The atmosphere was great, and the owners were friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu items!
Oh, I completely forgot to mention the secret menu items! If you know you know....Yes, they were absolutely amazing as well. I was lucky enough to stumble upon them during my visit, and they really added an extra layer of...
Read moreStopped by this place a little after opening on a Friday for lunch. The best part? I loved that you could order something adventurous and different or you could order something simple like a burger too. I ordered the Suqaar which came with steak, veggies and Somali rice. It was really good and it was a good amount of food for about $15. I also got a can of soda for a $1. A couple of my friends ordered too. One ordered Sambusas/Samosas which were 3 for $5.90 and another ordered a burger with fries for $12.99. They also have some grocery items you can purchase. The worst part? We did have to wait about 30 minutes for our food. We were hoping to dine in but then we were running late and when it finally came out, we had to pay to go. The good thing was the meals already came in to go boxes so that made it easier to just take it to go. I also am understanding of the time because there was only one person working the register and cooking the meals. When we got there like at 11:38am, the place had just opened at 11:30am and they already had 5 people there. Then you add our 3 meals so I guess the 30 minutes wasn’t terrible. Plus, the gal working was super nice too. I’d go back for...
Read moreTheir name might make you think of a certain popular coffee chain which is unfortunate cuz this is more of a neighborhood deli and they are rightly popular for their aromatic and delicious coffee chai.
Chatted a bit with the manager, he came here from Kenya and if you look around you'll see traditional Kenyan tribal arts and craft decorations. Like his diverse community you'll find cuisines familiar to Kenyans, Somalis, Latinos and Americans.
We ordered chicken wings, chai and a sort of tandoori chicken with rice and plain naan to go. Expected like an Indian Naan but not so and very forgettable. Chicken wings not bad. Chicken was pretty good. Best of all was the rice, was not plain, this was like a traditional Indian Biryani rice (Somali style?), rich with flavour, enriched with meat broth, stirred with chopped veggies and spices, this was the best...
