I discovered this restaurant over 10 years ago when I was still in high school. One of the most reliably good carne asada tacos I can find in the Twin Cities. The carne asada tacos are not dry at all and taste amazing with their hot sauce. There are also many other items on the menu. I usually like everything that I order (rarely, but every so often I do end up buying something that is not my favorite) you really can’t go wrong getting any of the various tacos that they have, one of my favorites is the carne asada torta, and I always get extra sauce. The torta is loaded with delicious ingredients and has a creamy taste from the beans, sauce, and avocado that is in it. I like to squeeze a little lime and sauce in it for a extra kick. The bread the torta is on, seems to be toasted with butter and is not dry at all. The only two items that I’ve tried so far that was not my favorite is the menudo and the birria. If you decide to sit in and eat, there is good music playing and usually some thing on the television. This is a pretty busy restaurant from the times that I’ve been there, but they always get my order finished pretty quickly, whether I call ahead or order there. I have never had any issues with staff, and there is a pretty diverse set of people that come in to buy food, and would say that the food tastes very good and authentic. The only warning I have is that the parking lot is extremely small, and depending on when you come it might be packed. If I were you, unless you were eating in, I would just have somebody drop you off to pick up your food and then come back around to pick you up. There is also some limited street parking nearby, but I’ve never used it. Since the parking lot is so small, this can lead to some tensions sometimes. If you’re from the area, you’ll probably be fine navigating it, but the last time me and my husband were there someone did tap our car with theirs and we had to de-escalate the situation. The food is totally worth it,...
Read moreI’ve been on a huge birria tacos kick, so stopped in for dinner after reading reviews. As others have mentioned, the lot is small, but there is street parking. The murals in this neighborhood are beautiful. The restaurant inside has approx 15 tables and was dressed up for the holidays; it had a cute & cozy feel. I ordered tacos and my husband got the enchiladas. Birria tacos were delicious, I added the cheese and soup as suggested; the cheese was a new twist for me and I really enjoyed it. The green sauce was a great addition, though the red was a little warm for me (I did add some to my soup for my leftovers the next day and it gave it a perfect level of spice). Hubby’s enchiladas were a little too spicy for him, but that’s not surprising since his favorite quote is ‘name brand ketchup makes me sweat’ 😂 So more leftovers for me! The ladies working were friendly and efficient; they were working on a large to-go order when we arrived and we still had our food within 10 minutes...
Read moreI don't understand the reviews. I went to this place twice after buying a three ticket groupon and both times it felt like the staff were not at all interested in our business nor cared about the food/service.
We were the only people in the place and it still took them an hour to get us our food. We had very little meat in our burritos and they were very bland but that is what you get when you burrito is 80% lettuce.
I thought maybe they were having an off day and since they had great reviews I would go by myself another time and try them again only to have a very similar experience, they were cooking a massive amount of food the entire time i was there but i was the only customer and they couldn't be bothered to get me food under 30 minutes. The food quality was the same as the first time, i chucked my third groupon, there is way better Mexican restaurants around the twin cities.
I just don't understand where these 5 star reviews are coming from, nothing about this...
