This is the place for authentic, home cooked Italian dinners. The portions are very, very generous. The place has a nice family atmosphere. Great service. They bill themselves as the oldest Italian restaurant in St Paul. They had a terrible fire a few years ago and they had to close for a while. But they rebuilt and remodeled and the place is better than ever. They have an iconic statue of liberty on the roof. I don't know the story about that but I'm sure it's a piece of their history. I've tried a few dishes there. The lasagna is delicious and the serving is almost as large as a plate. Their manicotti is tasty as well. And it seems like everything on the menu comes with either one or two meatballs... their original recipe. But if you just want spaghetti and meatballs this is the place. It's a great place to go before or after a night out in St Paul.

Quaint, cozy, and steeped in history, Yarusso Bros is a local gem. With old roots deep in the community, it feels a bit like stepping into a different era when you walk through the doors. Historical photos and original paintings, warm lighting, and wooden decor give it an older, comforting feel: it was genuine & warm rather than modern & slick, if that makes sense. 😊 Everything was clean; the staff was attentive and friendly; the food was very tasty and plentiful (the cheese pizza was massive & satisfying!). There are delicious vegetarian options, but I'm not sure if vegans will have luck here. The only prohibitive thing about Yarusso's is the abbreviated hours -- which I can't really fault them for, but I wanted to mention it. You can get a great meal here with a date or your family.

This was our first trip here as life long East Siders and although the location is quaint and inviting the meal was all over the place flavor wise. I had the alfredo with grilled chicken. The sauce was nice but was in the thinner side and the chicken held no flavor. The boyfriend had the lasagna which the sauce was not pleasant in flavor at all and the Italian sausage was overly seasoned. The dessert was very well done and tasted like original recipe for tiramisu minus the alcohol. The waitress was attentive and checked in on us throughout the meal with water and offering a beverage refill. Over all an ok trip, more memorable for the dislikes rather than the likes. We're more inclined to go to Rice street and Mama's instead.

Yarussos has been a family favorite sine age 12, I am now 58. Unfortunately my visit on Friday night was my last. The best part was always the outgoing and friendly wait staff. Now, no table service, no friendly hello as you enter the bar area, just a sign hanging overhead that reads "Order Here." Like so many other fast food businesses, customers now order in a line, a person drops water, utensils and bread at the table without a word, followed by a pasta drop off. Prices have gone up and customer service has gone WAY DOWN and that's unfortunate. Yarussos was always a diamond in the rough on the East side. Sad to see that go!

All things considered the rating should be around 3.7. The food is delicious and more importantly it's authentic Italian food that is not modified excessively to cater to an American taste (which is a positive). This has been a restaurant starting 1933 so it has a history and culture behind it. The staff are very friendly and you can get good suggestions from them. It was clean, the food was served in roughly 15 minutes after we ordered (not a long wait). Overall I liked the experience and the food. Some of our friends felt the food was not unique in terms of taste and a little on the pricey side which is why I say 3.7 not 4.

If you are looking for true Italian with great service all around, this is your spot. The baked mostaccioli is the absolute BEST. The owner Fred is the sweetest guy in the world, too! 😀
