Unfortunately this place was not a positive or pleasant experience. They hung up on me when I attempted to order on the phone. I should’ve went to JJ’s fish and chicken two blocks away. I called back and I couldn’t understand them and they couldn’t understand me. The meal was very expensive for what they give you. Do not get any combination plates, not good. I will admit the chicken pita is ok but no sauce, no sides, and it was small yet expensive. The hummus was put in a very small sauce cup (about a spoon full), the salad was iceberg lettuce and tomatoes, the French fries were frozen, the falafel seemed store bought or old (possibly both*), and the pitas were definitely not made in-house. They forgot parts of my order I had to come back and they offered me no compensation. It seems like this place is only for Ethiopians, if you’re from somewhere else try at your own risk… I don’t recommend anything...
Read moreWe ordered the cheese steaks for breakfast eggs with beef, jalapeno, and cheese on a hoagie bun at $7 each I side and two orders to go rice and chicken and rice and beef at $14.99 each. We also ordered 20 sambusas to go at $1.50 each. The regular person who makes sambusas was off so the man went out to get them from another restaurant. The sambusas were just lentils covered in egg roll paper- no spices (not even salt), no onion, no green pepper, no meat, just beans and they were horrible; like eating a cardboard box. Of course we didnt find out until 7:40 pm when we tried to eat them for dinner and we live an hour a way. I immediately called and got passed through a few kids until someone could help me and they said bring them back on Monday to exchange for ones with spices and I said but I want real Somali sambusas with meat, onion, spices, pepper...we will see what...
Read moreMy wife is pregnant and not fasting this ramadan, and she had a sudden craving for gyro. We stopped in and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the staff (including the owner) were very personable. All of the food was made fresh to order, and my wife loved it. Unfortunately I couldn't eat! But I decided to get some sambuus to have later on in the day. I kid you not, they were the best sambuus I've ever had. Even warmed up after being refrigerated for a good 5 or 6 hours, they were flaky and crispy. The filling was nice and spiced, and there was a good ratio of onion to meat. This will definitely be a new regular...
