Expensive for the sake of being expensive. If you are very well off, already staying at the hotel and don't care, go ahead and eat here, the food is fine. But if I am going to to spend over $100 per person I want to be wowed. The food is good but not good enough for the price. And the service was sub-par leaving us to flag down the waiter for drinks. Caprese appetizer had very fresh mozzarella but onions were not fully cooked and left a raw-onion after taste. Tomatoes were commercial not heirloom. Butchers block options are simply a piece of fish on a plate (maybe add an orchid or a smear?) Fresh fish nicely seared in butter, but plate is too empty and boring for $30. Of course you are supposed to add on sides which we did. Loaded tater tots are literally frozen tots with pumped nacho cheese slightly elevated with a spash of heat. Not worth $8 let alone the $14 they charge. Brussel sprouts were ok, crimini mushrooms were also just ok. Drinks are also overpriced and inconsistent. The first vodka club was very weak, the second...
Read moreWe booked Society room but when we got there the room had an affair and was nearly full. They offered to put us outside at Rowe bar which was fine . Problem was we were in Rowe but they gave us society menu . Dinner cost almost 700 for 6 adults 4 kids (3 infants) . Being in Rowe bar I expected Rowe menu . My son and I ordered the scallops for 51$ . We got 4 ...no side just 4 scallops with about 25 peas lol. When the waiter asked if we needed anything I wanted to say yes the rest of my dinner please. Fried tomato got two...we order 60 dollars worth of starters and the portions were terrible . The food was good but left hungry . So we sat and ate in Rowe bar but paid society prices and portions . Don't think I'm going back anytime soon. I felt kinda taken advantage of, doesn't Rowe cost less? Our server was great that was only...
Read moreThe chic new interior bar area is, unfortunately, where the positives end. For years, my family and I have been frequenting this location and its previous iterations... not necessarily because the food and drink were great, but for the historic hotel setting and beautiful beach views. The service has ALWAYS been inexcusably slow and the food has been inconsistently passable or “good” at best. Today’s visit was no different. Couple this with the new policy of not validating parking (our check was well over $100) and I find myself incredibly disappointed. There is such tremendous opportunity, and this bar (along with the other casual locations at the “illustrious” Don Cesar) has reliably underwhelmed. Regrettably, I don’t imagine that my family and I will be back...
