My friends and I were very excited to try out Castile but left extremely disappointed. And it’s all because of the rudest manger alive- David. We were celebrating my friends birthday, and we traveled all the way from New York for a fun trip in Saint Petersburg and Tampa. We had made these reservations in advance, and we’re looking forward to trying it out.
I have no words for how bad the service was. Immediately the service was off. For example, they didn’t give us enough menus and I asked twice for them because not everyone at the table had one. They kept forgetting to bring them over. I ended up having to go to the front host stand to grab the menus. We let it go because we are all in service industry and I understand things can happen sometimes. Then things went down hill fast…
My friend ordered a medium rare filet and it came out rare. It was BLOODY. We sent the filet back and patiently waited for them to heat it up.
Then David stepped into the picture… While we were waiting for the filet we could hear people laughing directly behind the booth. It was David and another server. They were making rude comments about us and we could hear the whole conversation. He said we were picking at the food, didn’t understand steak temperatures, and overall he was being rude, and unprofessional. First off let me say that I personally work in a fine dining restaurant that has strip steaks, filets, and so on. I know my steak temperatures and it was not medium rare. We asked for it medium rare plus. While David was complaining about our table and insulting us, we could hear him say medium rare plus doesn’t exist. My whole family works in the service industry and there are even chefs in my immediate family. I have never met or had an experience as horrible as this one before.
After we overhead David, my friend and I got up and said we could hear their whole conversation. We told him it was unprofessional and making us uncomfortable, his exact words were: “And what?” This is how a manger responded to our concerns, which is very unprofessional.
I was astonished by his reaction. If this happened at my restaurant, the manger would be fired and suspended since we pride ourselves in service. I asked the server for the manger and of course the manger was David. I was blown away because how could he be the manger and act like that! Immediately he became defense and did not apologize at all. Immediately he said first of all medium rare plus doesn’t exist although our server Cece suggested it. He was rude and kept saying medium rare plus doesn’t exist or you cannot temp it He kept interrupting us and would not acknowledge our concerns. He told us “you don’t know what you’re talking about.” Then we tried to end the conversation because he was not listening. I asked him for his name and he said “you can get it when you speak to my boss.” I ended up asking the hostess instead because he’s too unprofessional and rude to even share that information. We could even hear him talking to his servers and laughing about us after the conversation with him at our table ended!!!
To finish it off, I had to grab the other manger Jennifer (I believe). She is a real manger and was polite. She listened to our concerns and addressed the situation as a manger should. As we were leaving, we were by the front desk and having a nice chat with Lynnette who was extremely sweet. Then David came by huffing and puffing and said “I’m a real boss.” Like what?! We were not even talking to him.
Overall, I have been to a lot of restaurants and this was by far the worst restaurant ever. And Cece had to apologize for...
Read moreFirst of all, the food I ordered was SO delicious! I know you’re probably wondering “why the 3 stars then?” …
Everything was great until it wasn’t. I was a guest at Hotel Zamora for the weekend and decided to try out the restaurant my first night there. I was alone and traveled all day (I was looking a little rough from being on a plane all day lol), so decided to order food at the bar to-go and take back to my room to eat. Everything was great so far… the bar staff was very attentive and helpful and even made some conversation. They got my food out as soon as it was ready. Shoutout to the guy working the bar at 6:00pm on Friday February 11, 2022.
After going back to my hotel room and eating, I took a bite of my food and was like YESSS this is so good! (Pictured below)!
It wasn’t until I was done with my food that I was extremely disappointed. Around 7:30pm on Friday February 11, 2022 (in case you need to check the security cameras)… I came out of my room to try to find a trash can to put the big brown bag and food boxes in. I walked out of my room with my hair up in a sloppy bun and my headphones still on… I just needed to throw this stuff away so I want going to dress up to do that.
I walk up to the hostess…………… We are literally making eye contact. And I am about 4 feet away from her (in front of the couch) literally in the middle of asking her “hi, where is a trash——“…… she looks away, ignores me completely and directs her attention to a group getting off the elevator across the room. HELLOOOOO? I was literally just asking you something? And she was looking at me when I was approaching. Didn’t smile, greet me back or anything, just looked away, acted like I didn’t exist and ignored me!!!
You’ll see me on security cameras(if you have them and view this situation)… I am flustered and walking around not believing that just happened and how I was BLATANTLY IGNORED, so I’m trying frantically to find a trashcan to get back to my room and cry lol.
A bartender happily threw it away for me.
But that hostess ruined THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. I couldn’t believe that I just spent money at this restaurant just to be treated “less than”. I own a business and I know that’s not how you treat anyone EVER. The hostess working at 7:30pm on Friday February 11, 2022 needs better customer service skills. I believe she had dirty blonde hair if I remember correctly. I read a few other reviews making similar complaints about a hostess. I wonder if it’s the same one?!
I will definitely be back to Hotel Zamora and would like to dress up and enjoy the restaurant experience with friends and family (when I’m not traveling alone)… but would like to have a better experience with the hostess; the person who is supposed to make you feel welcomed.
To start off, this review is based solely off the service and the information provided by the restaurant. Unfortunately due to the misinformation by the restaurant, we did not choose to dine here. Initially, I was looking to book a reservation through Open Table. After not initially seeing a price for the Father’s Day Brunch Buffet, I chose to call to inquire about the price. I was told the price for the Buffet was $35 per person. After hearing this, I went to book the reservation through Open Table. Once I got through the selection, a screen popped up showing that the price of the Buffet was $85 per person. Based on my previous phone call, my husband called to clarify and confirm. The person that answered the phone insisted that the price was only $35 per person, and Ben after after being to her attention the difference in price listed on Open Table. She again insisted and promised the price of the Father’s Day Brunch Buffet was only $35 per person. So we decided to book the reservation and drive 30 miles to the restaurant. Upon arriving, the only option was to valet. No problem. Walking up to the restaurant, there is a giant sign displaying that the price of the Brunch Buffet is $85 per person. Shocked, we walk into the restaurant again, to ask what the price of the Buffet is. The Hostess says it’s $85 per person. After questioning her based one what we were told, the Hostess tells us that the evening workers really don’t know what is going on with Brunch, and really, they didn’t even know themselves what the price would be until the evening before, so what were we’re told (twice) was wrong. We decide just to leave and go back downstairs to get our car from Valet. Even the valet driver was surprised we were leaving so soon and asked what the reason was. I simply stated that we were misinformed and decided it wasn’t right for us. After going and getting our car, the valet driver pried to ask exactly what happened in which I reiterated the story told above. He apologized profusely and also stated that he could not understand why, as the sign in the lobby had been up the entire last week. Overall just disappointed in the service and lack of communication. Honestly the only reason I am leaving 2 stars is because of the valet driver who honestly was nice, personable, and overall the only person concerned with the service they were providing not only at this restaurant but...
