Bandana's Bar-B-Q Mid Rivers Express — Restaurant in Saint Peters

I've been going to Bandana's BBQ for close to a decade throughout the various locations there has been in STL and this by far has been my favorite location in all that time. The food here is always consistently delicious. I usually get the turkey and it’s always moist and cooked perfectly. Their sides are also fresh and really tasty. As well as the food being phenomenal, the service at this location is also beyond exceptional. Everyone is extremely friendly and make effort every visit to make sure you are having a great dining experience. My favorite two people from this location are Kassie and Grace. They’ve helped me on multiple visits and are always extremely kind and proficient. They even remember my order which always brightens my day.

I moved to the area a couple years ago and tried some other BBQ spots around Saint Charles, but none even come close to checking the all the boxes for great food, wonderful service, and friendly staff like this Bandana’s BBQ does. I am sure that if I move to another area of STL, it would be extremely difficult to encounter such a strong team and a wonderful dining experience like at this location. May be southern but it ain't BBQ. Everything was smoked and the sauces in squirt bottles all tasted like vinegar. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but the beans and the potato salad were the only saving grace.

Having worked in the food industry for many years, I saw several service issues as well. First, the front staff stood at the corner of the front counter and talked, drank and ignored patrons. Bad customer service. Second, their drinks were on the steel table behind the counter in full view of the dining room. This is actually a health hazard. The cups being used are way too close to the food. It's as bad as spitting on said food and is disgusting. The drinks should be in either a break room or around a corner. Third, while they were wasting time and chatting, there were dirty tables and floors that needed to be cleaned and the drink station needed to be wiped down and re-stocked.

This visit did not jump out as an amazing experience so I'll just suggest that this would be a great place for a large group to meet up. Any time we have gone to this location there is hardly anyone there. They have a large outdoor seating area and nice size interior seating as well and the doors open right into the patio so it would be great for a large group or club meeting. There are ramps to get onto the curb but the double doors with a breezeway were sort of difficult to get through in a wheelchair. Next time I'll enter from the single doors on the patio. The soda station and area to put your dishes after eating are made for the standing community and if you are in a wheelchair you may need some help with these areas.
