Food: 5/5 Most amazing gluten free chocolate chip banana bread I've EVER had. Blows any other gluten free baked goods I have had out of the water. The flour (which I assumed was mainly almond flour) was so moist and fresh tasting. Menus are easy to read and written in different colors. There were plentiful food choices as well as tons of drink choices. Anyone who has special dietary needs like I do will be able to find at least one thing they can eat here. The price points on the baked goods and gelato weren't too bad for the quality of goods I received. The salads and other foods are slightly expensive but normally priced for an artisan style organic meal. This trip I did not have the chance to gain any insight on the other foods as I had a strict budget but I look forward to testing them in the future! I can see this place doing very well and it will gain regular customers.
Customer service: 4/5 Everyone seemed too busy to talk which I was a little disappointed about. I wanted to meet the owner and know a little more about his/her restaurant. The cashier knew almost nothing about the baked goods but I tend to let that slide due to this being a new place. She probably wasn't the person who has anything to do with preparing any of the food anyways. I am hoping to speak to the owner the next time I visit this place.
Atmosphere: 5/5 I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. The interior design was fresh and inviting. I saw what I figured was reclaimed wood on the walls which added a nice touch to the design of the cafe. Simple dishes/silverware. My only complaint is lack of pricing. There were no readily available prices for the baked good items that I could see. OTHER than that, the baked goods are displayed very well. They are all easily visible.
Eco-Friendliness: 5/5 The packaging appeared very eco-friendly. I received a cardboard takeout container with my baked goods. On this visit, I did not locate any Styrofoam or plastic containers. I loved the hydroponic salad bar hanging on the wall behind the registers. The addition of the fresh growing salad bar tells me that the owner is very serious and conscious about health.
Cleanliness: 5/5 Top notch. No clutter and nothing was messy. It looked almost creepily sterile although I forgot to visit the restrooms so I cannot comment on that although the majority of their customer base they are appealing to is likely to keep things clean.
Accessibility: 5/5 It is easy to spot from the street (sign is big enough to read) and a well organized uncluttered cafe. Their hours make it a desirable place to visit. Most cafes like this close WAY too early at 4 pm but this place is open until 7 pm (Except Sunday when it...
Read moreThis place is a GEM and a "gold mine" for foodies that are avoiding gluten! The entire establishment is gluten-free! A rarity! All entrees and bakery items are DELISH! I have visited the 66th Street/Central Avenue location several times now when I visit St.Pete, my hometown. (There is another location in downtown St.Pete and one in Tampa). The staff are hard workers, attentive, and friendly. Indoor seating includes various options - table and chairs, bar stools at the window, a few cushioned chairs, while outdoors there are 4 or 5 round 4-top tables under shelter. This place seems to be a "happening" meet-up place for locals and St. Pete visitors alike. The place is always busy! In that regard, the atmosphere can get a little noisy indoors. You can order "to go" orders of most everything on the menu but NOT bakery items. That may be because they either bake a limited supply or Craft Cafe can not keep up with demand! And let me tell you, the bakery items are DELISH. The textures are extremely close to normal, and they do not fall apart or taste different like a lot of gluten-free desserts do. I have had the following: The Traditional Sandwich, the pancakes, a breakfast pizza, and, an apple betty, a cherry tart, muffins, and other yummy bakery items. For coffee drinkers, there are milk alternatives, sweetness alternatives, and choices of additional flavors. You have to try this place out. If you are a local, you will make this place a regularly visited establishment. If you are a visitor, you won't forget to go here again in...
Read moreCraft on Central has stepped up their coffee game - another delightful option for third wave innovation in St. Petersburg. Sourcing from Onyx, Eastlick and Bandit - one can’t go wrong. Bar staff is incredibly knowledgeable and willing to talk about coffee or make solid recommendations to anyone. Zero snobbery! Pour over game is on point - they use a kalita wave which is hand dialed by experienced baristas. I have enjoyed Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Brazil, Peru; to say nothing of their espresso, which is also carefully attended to and extracted with precision. They offer Kyoto slow drip cold brew and toddy as well. Jason and Elliot are wizards behind the bar. I only wish I knew the names of the talented ladies who work bar as well - so friendly, talented, and outgoing. LOVE my Craft rockstars.
Of course, the magnificent feat of Craft lies in the magic of their gluten free bakery. Delicious made to order sandwiches, fresh quiche and breakfast pizza...if you haven’t tried the new brioche bun, with their traditional sandwich, what are you waiting for?! One cannot miss out on all the pastries either: blueberry muffins, chocolate and banana loaf, pound cake, cinnamon rolls, caramel brownies, I could go on and on. Teddy is a sweetheart, hardworking but as a horse but he always has a minute to say hello and great his regulars like family.
Do not miss out on Craft Kafe - especially the new location which is so beautiful and tastefully designed. A...
