Lived in the area for 20 years and can't believe I never stopped in before. It was a Saturday about 6pm, seated quickly, and waitress was friendly. Sister was in town and I wanted to try something new for dinner. Had the teriyaki chicken and was pleasantly surprised at portion size, quality, and flavor. My sister "special" ordered a sandwich, grilled, and was very happy with the result. There were a couple things I'm going to suggest since our family owned and operated a VERY SUCCESSFUL 65-seat restaurant in Massachusetts. We felt a little rushed. We went to dinner to catch up with each other so we were involved in heavy conversation. I guess we weren't eating quickly enough for the waitress because our conversation was interrupted several times (nothing against the waitress, she was just being friendly and attentive). Advice for waitstaff, learn to look at customers drinks and food. Just a tip. If their drinks are full and there is food on their plate, you don't need to be "johnny on the spot". Other than that, I will definitely eat there again, and recommend it as "good food, good people". Some of the pricing was a little high ($4.25 for a milkshake (which we both tried) and it was more like "half" a milkshake portion-wise)). All in all it was a pleasant experience and the hostess was extremely friendly upon entry, and very friendly upon exit which made a HUGE impression on us. Both of us can be extremely critical when we dine since I grew up being a cook and her a waitress. VERY RARE in this area would an establishment impress me enough to share a review. If you've never been, it's definitely worth a stop. It's my new favorite on 4th street to get away from all the fast-food. Keep up...
Read moreBIG FAT -0-! The experience was certainly something that I will never forget. Enjoyed the day watching the Rays and friends told us about this great place called Harvey's for grouper sandwiches. We show up get seated- the atmosphere appears to be a hot spot. Until the artichoke dip comes out and I explained politely to the MANAGER the dip is fabulous however the dip needed chips or baked pita chips not individually wrapped club crackers. (This was after our waitress brings out her version of chips a flat hard taco shell unbaked at that)! The manager responds "oh well - next time you won't order it since you know it comes with crackers because this it the way we serve it here". Seriously who or what kind of manager responds to a customer much less a person dining in their establishment in that manner? After he walks away from our table he proceeds to tell us to enjoy our meal have a great day. The waitress never brought or asked if we needed any else to drink. I had to go and get my refreshments myself, thank goodness I have never waitressed before (insert giggle). She starts to clear our table and forgets to bring coleslaw that was ordered as a side with a meal. The person at our table kindly reminds her that she never brought it out with the meal - she proceeds to argue with us that she has been busy and she did not know that he wanted it(he asked her how their "slaw" was and she joked about how wonderful it was and highly recommended it).
Signed - no cash TIP for your waitress and big fat Thumbs down for...
Read moreMy husband and I went to have a late lunch Tuesday. I called ahead of going to verify that they still served fresh grouper sandwiches and the price which was $20.95, which is very reasonable in comparison to other local restaurants. We both ordered the fried grouper sandwiches with extra tartar sauce and fries. Our meal was served promptly but after putting the toppings on and taking the first bite we knew it tasted wrong. Our waiter never returned to check on us. So we continued to eat our meals. Our waiter returned once to quickly fill my husbandâs water and again disappeared. When we finished eating our waiter returned with our bill and we told him the fish was not grouper. I gave him my credit card and he left and returned with the receipt for my signature and told us he told the manager of our complaint to see if he could give us a reduction on our bill. He continued to say that if we complained at the beginning of our meal that they could have done something but since we didnât there would be no deduction in our bill. Mind you our waiter never once returned to check on us or ask how our meal was. I made it clear that we would not return again. We have eaten there for many years. We never asked for a reduced bill or anything else. They seemed to know full well from attitude and reaction that what we were served was not grouper. Sad that we were treated that way and feel that we would simply be taken advantage of by returning to Harveyâs 4th...
