A little secret spot known especially to the local tennis folks but also to the neighborhoods surrounding it as it’s just a short walk for many to enjoy. But don’t mistake the neighborhood charm of being tucked into the tennis club as its only great quality, this spot has a something-for-everyone menu and the food is thoughtful with a lot of love to be shared. One of my favorite items is the loaded hummus, the hummus by itself is awesome but then they add a Greek twist with olives, feta, red onion, cucumber and diced tomato served with a side of tortilla chips and it’s like a healthy nacho vibe. Their mahi wrap is one of the best in town, their wings are spot on, you can get buffalo cauliflower or shrimp which are delicious and a nice to see a veg option. I had their braised short rib and the veg root mash was a highlight as well as the wine sauce and horseradish dip. It’s hot to sit outside in the summer months but the patio is still where it’s at as there is a lot of shade. It’s usually busy during season but it’s a great locals spot and I really wish they would consider doing brunch on the weekends. Service is friendly, attentive and easy going. Great vibes all around.

A friend and I stopped in for lunch yesterday and had an enjoyable experience. We were greeted immediately and taken outside as the inside vibe was lackluster w/ a dining area to the right w/ minimal photos on wall and a bar to the left. The garden dining is laid back, gorgeous flowers surrounding and shade thankfully. We both ordered a glass of wine, though happy hour is all day if that excites you and a sandwich. She said her crab cake sandwich was outstanding w/ a side Caesar that was dressed w/ a creamy homemade dressing which she devoured. I had a tender, chicken chimichurri wrap which had far too much aioli for a wrap which made it soggy. I also was craving the bright, slightly acidic chimichurri which wasn’t there. The wrap overall was good, maybe better on bread instead? The grilled pasta salad was light w/ a creamy Italian feel w/ grilled asparagus, tomatoes, peppers and onions topped w/ cheese. Overall I would like to go back and try the wings or something different.

We had lunch at Root & Clay today & thoroughly enjoyed the food, service & setting. We sat outside since the 78 F temp was enjoyable on a sunny yet breezy day. At first it seemed nobody was there but alas our patience was rewarded with a delicious meal in a really nice setting. On hotter days or when it’s wet or windy outside they have a modest indoor area. This seems to be a relatively undiscovered place as we noticed only a few tables of people having lunch. Really a nice find in a city of so many choices! We will be back for sure!

We are so happy to have this gem in the neighborhood! We ate here for the first time last night and it was beyond our expectations! It's not just a restaurant to go to because it's convenient, it's totally worth driving across town for. Yes it's with-in a tennis club, but don't be fooled! The food and service is taken very serious. We had 4 in our party, and we all got something different. It all was outstanding! The one thing that shined the brightest was the Short-rib, the best I have ever had, WOW! Everyone at the table raved over what they had. They have a nice full bar, beer, and a small but decent wine selection. Really nice large outdoor patio space, the indoors is decent. The VALUE here is outstanding!$!$! Maybe the cheapest cocktails in town. Now the service,...The best service we have had in a long long time! We were extremely impressed with the two young ladies El & Ashley that waited on us! One of us at the table is a collage professor, and made the statement they were the hardest working young people he had seen in a long while. They were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to love what they were doing. They both expressed the chef & owner was fantastic and it spills over into their enthusiasm. I really hope people give this...
