If there was a choice of 0 stars, I would have chosen that today. Worst experience EVER at a restaurant! First, I don't do negative posts. However, we had (literally) the worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant this afternoon. We've eaten at the The Burg Diner on 49th Street several times and usually had a decent experience. Typically "ok" service and "ok" food. We were there today with a party of 10. Food was decent, service was mediocre at first, and then went downhill. Another person thought the potato salad was dry, so she asked for some mayo to add to it, without complaining about the dryness. The waitress barked at her that the potato salad didn't need mayo, but finally brought it out after a few reminders. (Not a big deal, other than the rude waitress). One person in our party had crab cakes and thought they tasted bad. Two others tried them and agreed that they tasted bad. She notified the waitress discreetly and said she thought it tasted bad and asked her to take the plate away. The waitress said she'd check with the cook to see if they could take it. The person in our party asked that she take the plate now, because it smelled bad. The waitress walked away mumbling. The person in our party ended up having to go deliver the plate to kitchen window since the waitress wouldn't take it. The came back finally to see if she wanted something else, but at this point, she was just ready to go. (The waitress had already been rude to her several times during the course of the meal). We were all disappointed in the service and the way this was handled, but still tipped decently and chose to enjoy our family time together. After about 10 minutes the OWNER came out and YELLED at our family...no exaggeration...the OWNER YELLED at us saying her crab was purchased yesterday and it wasn't bad!! We let her know that it still tasted bad, and regardless of when you bought it, it could still be bad. The OWNER continued to literally YELL at our family. We left abruptly after that. Warning...stay away from the The Burg Diner on 49th Street. We used to be frequent customers, but we WILL...
Read moreWent in today Saturday at 7:30 the website said they were open at 7am. Nope on weekends they open at 8am no problem they just need to update the site. I got the country fried sreak skillet special, and apparently this was the first time they have had this special since nobody was really sure how to prepare it, better communication prior to putting it on the menu would solve this in the future. This was priced at 17.99, so I was expecting quite a bit of food. Nope what I recieved was an order of home fries with strips of the steak and cheese topped off with 2 eggs which I requested over medium ( received over hard) I also got an extremely small dish of country gravy as I couldn't find any sausage in it, on the side. I also requested a biscuit for my toast option and coffee. The food other than the eggs was decent but not worth the price since I could have bought it as different items and gotten more for less. Then there was an undisclosed $2. Charge I guess this was for the small biscuit I got 1 not 2. The staff were friendly and outgoing but failed to mention that they charge a fee for cards which in Florida they are required to do before the purchase especially when the customer asks if they accept cards. The coffee was billed at $4. a bit steep for diner coffee bringing my bill to $23.99 then add in the taxof $1.68 for a grand total of $25.67, Nope see there's that undisclosed fee for useing my debit card $1.02 so now we're up to $26.69 for breakfast for one person. I dontt blame employees for management / owner policies and pricing, and I did receive a second cup of coffee. So I left a $5.00 tip so $31.69 for breakfast at these prices I won't be returning any time soon. Russ Schafer St...
Read moreI don't even know where to start... They allow no substitutions on the menu. So I ordered a 1/2 cup of Cuban beans with my omelet. I ordered the meat eaters. It was less than tasty and small. My wife ordered the biscuit and gravy... The biscuits were overcooked. The gravy was like paste with zero taste. And the hash browns looked like waffle house recovered hash browns six days old. I love waffle house. Our waitress sucked. She was busy stuffing her face with food, not checking in on us. My wife commented that the biscuits and gravy were probably the worst she ever had. The waitress replies they are Greek biscuits and gravy. Who knew? Her statement turned out to be a lie—also, no water refills. Btw google can't find a recipe for Greek biscuits and gravy. Picture #6 shows our waitress eating. Like I want your hand to mouth saliva touching the plates I'm eating off of. Also you never washed your hands after what you ate... Gag.. Nasty... Horridness.
Update owner replies almost a year later.. are you kidding me....and this is why you received a...
