Extremely unpleasant experience every time I visit there. Not only the music is extremely loud (and bad taste as well), not allowing me to talk to people around me, the Dog Bar itself feels really chaotic. Every time I visit this place I feel like I am throwing my dog inside of some UFC dog fight. My friend next to me that visit there often comes and say “watch out for this dog, and that dog, and this dog…” because they just keep teasing and annoying my dog, trying to get into fights. If your dog isn’t friendly then first of all you need to train it, and you should not take him to public places and dog parks/bars.
I often take my dog to dog parks and dog beaches and I have never felt this overwhelming and worried about my dog before. While I am trying to walk away, I put the leash on my dog and instantly 6-9 of them start jumping on my dog, not allowing me to even get out of there, while I listen the staff giving me a hard time saying “some dogs are leash reactive” (which means they will try to fight your dog if they are on a leash). I’m sorry but I have never heard that b…s before in my life. I have owned dogs for over 20 years and I have never heard of not being allowed for my dog to not be on a leash. How about to train your dog to respect and not attack others? A place that supposedly should be fun and relaxing, you get there and you can only feel stressed out. Can’t even socialize or get to talk to other people because you gotta make sure your dog doesn’t get attacked. I have brought once another small dog that is always very friendly as well and sweet, and the two times I have taken her there to the Dog Bar I wasn’t able to have her on the floor, because she was praying for her life. I have no idea how this business has any high reviews. Do yourself a favor and simply take your dog to a regular dog park or dog beach, plus you won’t need to waste $7 paying to enter.
FYI they also don’t offer food , they only...
Read morePretty shocked as I write this. I had been wanting to take my dog here for a while and today seemed like the perfect day as it wasn’t too hot and did not look very crowded. We entered and a very nice gentleman explained the rules to us and took my dog’s vaccine info. That is where the good experience stopped. Within 45 seconds of entering the dog section my dog was attacked by a dog named Kevin. Not just nipping or scuffling, this dog was full on trying to attack. My dog ran under tables and through chairs towards me and that is the only thing that slowed the other dog down so that he could not actually latch on to him. For reference my dog is 80lbs! The rufferree who was also very nice came over to my dog to immediately check if he had bites on his neck or ears. How shocking that within a minute of entering this place my dog had to be checked for injuries! After I checked my dog I noticed that my own leg was stinging, when I looked down I saw that my leg had actually been bit or gouged with this dog’s nail! I’m sure it occurred when my dog ran towards me and the other dog was frustrated it could not get to him. Although Kevin and his owners were asked to leave no apology was offered to us from the dog’s owners. The only thing that was said was that Kevin was having a tough time dealing with the hurricane. The hurricane occurred two days ago and it rained in our area for one day. If your dog is so reactive that it will attack other dogs because it spent one rainy day inside two days ago then this is not the place for them! Given that the staff knew the dog by name I can only assume he and his owners are regulars which concerns me for other unsuspecting dogs and their owners. Sadly, I could not in good conscience recommend the dog bar to any...
Read moreTL;DR: The bartender at Dog Bar followed us down the street and assaulted me when I tried to stop her from harassing my sister-in-law.
On Saturday night (12/28), we were headed to Dog Bar when the bartender (a young lady with dark hair, short and stout) told us to stay out, apparently due to a personal issue she had with my sister-in-law, who had been out of town for about a year. I found it strange that in 2024, businesses can afford to turn away customers because their employees can’t separate personal issues from work, but I shrugged it off—there are plenty of bars around, so we moved on.
That’s when things got weird.
We went down the street to Right Around the Corner Arcade Bar and were having a good time. Then, the same bartender from Dog Bar showed up to chase us out of that bar, too. Apparently, her girlfriend was the bartender there, and she did not like that my sister-in-law was present. She caused a scene, and the Arcade bartender ended up kicking us out after letting her Dog Bar girlfriend verbally attack my sister-in-law. At one point, the bartender even slapped a drink out of my hand when I tried to step between them. Afterward, she headed back to her bar, where I can only hope she didn’t harass or assault any of her own customers.
St. Pete is wild. Don’t let the fluffy dogs fool you—this place doesn’t seem to care about its customers, and the employees apparently make up the rules as they go. If you’re in the area, just admire the dogs from the fence and head to one of the MANY other bars nearby.
annnd yes I'm seeing if the business' are liable for what their employee's do while...
