Today, I visited Black Crow Coffee at 2158 1st Ave. S in St. Pete and experienced a concerning incident. A metal pamphlet rack, which was not secured to the wall, fell on top of my 20 month old, hitting her on the head and causing her to fall to the ground. She began screaming in fear and pain, and I immediately picked her up to inspect her for injuries sustained and to comfort her.

James, one of their employees, responded by picking up the rack and placing it back in the same unsafe position it was previously without acknowledging the situation or my distressed child. This lack of concern and basic empathy was extremely disappointing, especially since it happened in a local place we loved to support and visited so many times.

After I left the premises, I contacted management and received a prompt response from Deana, who informed me that the rack was removed until it could be properly secured. She also explained that the employee who responded was overwhelmed at the time and apologized for his hurried actions. However, Deana did not inquire about my toddler’s well-being either.

Due to this experience and the insufficient response from both the staff and management, we will not be returning to Black Crow Coffee, a fact which I mentioned in my kind reply to management, and to which I did not hear any response. I believe someone who truly cares about their community and patrons, like this establishment likes to claim they do, would at least try to make a gesture to get their customers to return. While this place is decorated with slogans of inclusion towards their LGBTQ+ and Black community, they forget that toddlers and parents are also a part of that same community and we would like to be treated with the same respect and inclusivity. Black Crow’s actions in this situation reveal a lack of genuine care and consideration for their community of parents and little ones and we certainly do not feel welcomed there.

I am writing the review of this incident to advise other parents to be cautious about visiting this establishment, as it currently lacks adequate safety measures and fails to treat their patrons with empathy and basic kindness.

Great atmosphere great vibe. Parking sucks but that's not their fault. Love the open air and the patio. Best Banana But Muffin I have had in years. Their espresso is very tasty and I received exceptional service when asking all my questions. Great staff and a great time. I will be back. The aftermath of a fantastic experience.

7/6/22, Every Wednesday and when ever I have a full day off, I will always make a point of stopping in for Quad Jet Fuel 16oz with 2 extra shots (4 shots total) and a banana nut muffin. This is such a great coffee shop. It's a favorite spot.

9/12, almost 2 months later, the place and the product is still phenomenal. The staff is great, very friendly and courteous and the Jet Fuel with a banana 🍌🍌 nut muffin is still excellent. Their espresso is right on.

1/18/23 still an amazing friendly fun and delicious space. Truly a superb coffee shop. Great staff great environment. This is not a drive thru, this is not coffee in seconds. This is a Coffee House experience that I truly love and appreciate. If you need your coffee in 15 seconds, PLEASE visit another space. If you want to hangout slow down a little and savor the aroma and delight of coffee, then this is THE BEST spot

4/12/23 Just keeps getting better. Delicious muffins and croissants and the espresso is great. The staff is excellent with customers friendly courteous and welcoming. Will always be a favorite spot definitely in my top 3.
