Not as great as the pre-2010 days, but still has good people working there. I would frequent this place after class, and at one point, the sidewalk next to it was the only pathway into the campus during construction. This probably helped support this small business.

On this visit I ordered vegetarian chili (which was always good in the past), but it was unfortunately ice cold. I brought it back to the counter to ask for it to be heated up twice, but the microwave wasn't cutting it. At my third trip to the counter they packaged it up for me to take home (and heat on my own), and offered me anything else on the menu at no extra charge. They explained that during the day say the chili sits on the hotplate, but gets put in the fridge and reheated at night. As a replacement, I got a Tennessee Williams (turkey, provolone, tomato, and thousand island dressing on pumpernickel) with fries. The sandwich was huge enough to split between me and my dining companion. Fries were seasoned with a chili powder blend, but delicious. I probably won't go back at night if the chili has to be microwaved, because it's my favorite thing they serve. However, I think the way they handled the situation was more than I expected from the...

I can't believe I returned to this place after the last time I experience poor quality of food and service. The staff are very cold and bias and twice the last time being this past Monday their infamous crunchy grouper sandwich was lacking... where's the grouper to go with the crunchy batter... more like crunchy sandwich without the grouper. Truthfully I only returned because I work on campus and my husband loves the blackened chicken sandwich I've never had it so I can't tell you if it's any good and my husband loves plain cheese burgers (only cheese and meat) his palate isn't very enriched as mine I love him but he's a plain joe shmoe. I told him he will have to go get his sandwich himself I won't be returning to this run down hut. 40yrs with only 499 reviews... please get over yourself. Like I said I work at the school you're only proving my point of course their nice to the person responsible for there employment and writing their checks. Please being educated and young doesn't equate to being a nice let alone a smart or professional person, you either are or you are not which is why it adds up as to why they are thriving among your toxic establishment. Your response further...

This is an awesome and low-key beer and wine spot on the fringes of downtown st Pete. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The owners work there every night and the rest of the staff are really sweet folks. It also has one of those new rental scooter spots 50 feet away!

The Tavern is open on weekdays with live music most nights. The Wednesday open mic nights are like nothing I’ve experienced. There’s a chalkboard for signups and...that’s it! Forgot your guitar or don’t have one because you’re on vacation? Use the owner’s! These are really talented musicians and the sound system is excellently curated. The owners and staff fine tune the soundboard for each performer and are usually the ones who kick off the night. There are a few staple performers as well that I always looked forward to.

The beer flows CHEAP! Their selection is quite limited on draft offering 5-6 beers and another dozen varieties in bottles or cans. It’s not a full bar, but don’t let that dissuade you. One of the best spots in St. Pete to have a simple but delicious grouper sandwich and a cold beer to catch up with friends.

We...

New to St. Petersburg we stumbled on this gem and could not be more happy. First the food: best grouper sandwich you can imagine and the best marinated grilled chicken sandwich ever. They bake their own rosemary buns! Incredible prices and fast delivery even in the middle of the busiest time. Second, visit Wednesdays for Open Mic night and if you come two weeks in a row, you will feel like part of the family. Listen to everything from bass and cello to harmonica to full bands. Looking for the Cheers experience? This is your place. Fun rustic indoor and outdoor seats. Ring toss. Amazing beer prices. Family owned and operated. Show me another dive bar smack in the middle of a college campus. Amazing! Thank you Dennis and Patrick for making us feel we had a new home after moving across the country. P.S. They have the best fresh pickles served with the sandwiches. P.S.S. The owners will usually play a first song on Wednesday at 7pm. They are super talented and a great kick off for the next 8-10 acts. Don’t miss that.

A few minutes drive from the St. Pete Pier, this no frills tavern with a surprisingly good-sized menu is a must. Don't be mislead by the cheap eats and parking lot view from the deck. Wonderful live music and a rustic tavern feel make you forget where you are. We had wings, burgers (cooked to taste), South West wrap with a side of Sriracha aioli, Buffalo shrimp, and a quesadilla. Everything came out fairly quickly and tasted amazing. The fries had a pleasant sweetness to their spice. A cooler of canned drinks and beers on tap round out the bar. Staff was super nice and laid back and the cool band took requests. Would totally go back!

I went there expecting service.. like, regular table or bar service.. but maybe I read reviews wrong prior, or idk. But everything, drinks included, was a "to-go" situation. Not a hang out and chill and meet people place. It was a "turn and burn". But that being said, the drink selection, being minimal, was good. And my ahi tuna was fantastic. And, the prices were good. I'd go again, if in a pinch. But it was uncomfortably hot outside despite the fans, and there was no service except at the counter. I didnt realize this was anything other than a normal bar after reading reviews and viewing pics. It's not.
