Since moving here this is my go to option for my farmers market needs (mainly veggies and fruits).
A little background first tho. I am a farmers market junkie. In the DC area I got to know my vendors very well at the 3-4 markets I visited year round, well enough for then to take care of me. For any transplants, that's Dupont Circle, Falls Church, Fairlington, and in a pinch Old Town Alexandria. Three out of those 4 are year round.
Back to St Pete. I like this market's size as it dwarfs the markets I am used to. The vendor selection is great. I love the organic options for feeding my twin girls at the few organic stands. Even the conventional sellers seem to have great produce that is locally grown. I am guessing that will get harder as we approach spring and the full on heat of the summer but I will trust in the greenhouses to come thru with the goods.
Here's a few more reasons why the market is a great. I tend to find the produce selection at Publix lacking, and woeful. Even whole foods has work to do to catch up with what I was used to in Arlington VA. I am going to miss Lucky's as they were about as close to MOMs organic market as I could get. Sprouts may serve me well... but really the farmers market is where I am going to find most of what I really want throughout the week when it comes to my fruit and veggie consumption at a fair price too.
A bonus is there is always entertainment with a band, group, or other performers. Folks making balloon animals and demoing their giant bubble sticks with the kiddos. Then there's the food trucks and stands of which I haven't partaken much of, but what I have had has been excellent.
Anyway go and enjoy like we do every Saturday. It's my new routine you should make...

We’ve officially become Saturday Market People™—you know, the ones who show up before the band starts playing, reusable bags in hand, and leave with enough groceries to open a small farm-to-table restaurant.
First stop: Trail Bale Farms, aka the Beyoncé of breakfast meats. Their pork sausage hits like a warm hug from a Southern grandma, and the eggs? Fresher than your neighbor’s unsolicited opinions. We now refuse to eat eggs unless we personally made awkward eye contact with the chicken that laid them.
Next up, eucalyptus for the shower—because we’re bougie now, apparently. One whiff and you’re not just in your bathroom anymore, you’re in a spa in the Swiss Alps with zero stress and perfect skin. Add flowers so fresh they practically wink at you and boom—your home smells like botanical heaven.
Now let’s talk produce: if Whole Foods is prom night, this place is the afterparty—cooler, cheaper, and way more fun. Two massive bags of jalapeños, onions, asparagus, greens, fruits, and veggies for $45?! I wept. The line looks like it stretches to Tampa, but it moves faster than your excuses on leg day. Blink and you’re at the front, being handed tomatoes by a smiling produce wizard.
It’s like a grocery run, a wellness retreat, and a food adventure all rolled into one. Warning: once you go, your sad grocery store carrots will never taste...
Read moreWe saw this market on a video posted on Facebook and decided to give it a try on Saturday. It was gloomy and rainy that morning so we waited for the rain to subside and got there around noon. Parking was absolutely hectic. I also didn't get why there was people regulating the parking next to the market, it's a public parking area and they weren't letting cars in and stated the lot was full but we could see plenty of parking spots available so this was very confusing. We ended up parking in a garage for $5 and walked about a block to the market which was no big deal.
Once we got there, we were welcomed with music and the smell of food. The vendors for veggies and fruits were limited to 3 that I saw. The food was lacking tons and there was not a good variety. It was either a bakery or BBQ and I wish there were more food vendors of different variety. The market was able to be walked in about 15-20 minutes. It was much smaller than I had imagined since they said there was over 100+ vendors and I don't think I saw that many. I don't know if the rain had anything to do with the shortage of vendors but it was tiny. I don't think I would go here again unless I came with my dog for a social event. There wasn't much of a deal that I couldn't already get at the flea market in...
