Instead of writing a review I’ll just copy and paste an email I wrote to the manager. I did not get a response from her.
“Good afternoon,
We arrived at Hyatt Place last night and had a decent experience until the 4:30 AM wake up call from the fire alarm that took place. I’m here with my 7 year old daughter, who was really scared from the noise and pretty panicked being woken out of sleep so abruptly. It took us 2 hours to fall back asleep, and wasn’t easy at all considering we had to walk up and down 7 flights of stairs and wait around outside and in the lobby until they were able to confirm there’s no real emergency/disarm the system.
I learned earlier today that a random young adult triggered the alarm, and somehow was able to get into the building to do so. While I realize that these alarms are in place for a reason and they very well could have gone off during a legitimate emergency, this specific occurrence was due to your staff’s, or company’s, lack of security.
This happened at 4:30 in the morning… with babies and children involved, and the day before NYE - when we are all planning to be up and doing things most of the day and night. It’s absolutely unacceptable. We come to hotels for an experience, and to relax, and not have to stress. No, we can’t always control the situation or how others behave, but as a company there could have been (at the very minimum!) a mass email sent out to all guests, acknowledging the chaotic and FRIGHTFUL situation that we experienced. There should be some sort of monetary accountability here, but like I said at the very minimum I would have expected a courtesy email.
Lastly, we had an event to attend today from 10:30-2 and we missed an hour of it, had to rush to get us all ready, and couldn’t even have breakfast…. Due to this situation and ultimately oversleeping. So this has also cost us money. We were only here for 2 nights, and today has been exhausting and rushed.
To be spending over $1000 total on this hotel with no valet, no daily waters or at least waters in room upon arrival… this alarm fiasco just tops off my negative impression. My friend had mentioned great things about this hotel, but I’m eager to tell her all about this and share my opposing opinion. Hopefully this email has conveyed how stressful and scary that was, how upset we and many others are, while also exposing where this company and staff has fallen short.“
Rooms are good and pretty clean, but common areas are absolutely disgusting. No old school hotel experience AT ALL. No valet, nobody to help with bags to mention a couple of things. Only really good thing is the location but you can stay at other places with better proximity to everything. Won’t...

We booked a King Bed (Plus a Sofa Bed) online for the 4th of July weekend. (These are the smallest pillows we have ever seen on a King Bed!!) We called the morning of check-in and Marina said she would book the best room #1031. The room was hot upon arrival so we lowered the AC thermostat. We waited approx an hour but the temperature did not change. We called downstairs and they sent an engineer to inspect the unit which he confirmed it was not cooling properly. Gail at the front desk moved us to room #903. This room was noticeably cooler after a few minutes. We set the temperature to 74 before going to bed, but in the middle of the night it was very cold! We looked at the thermostat and it was 69!!
Complimentary bottled water was not offered. Every other Hyatt property we've stayed at has given us daily bottled water. Is Hyatt getting stingy?! 😞
The bathroom should have an automatic nightlight integrated in the light switch. It is startling to turn on the light in the middle of the night. 🤨 We have come across this issue in a couple of other hotels, but now I always travel with my Plug in Dimmable LED Night Light. I found a 4-Pak for $16 bucks at Amazon! 😃 The water faucet is too short causing the countertop to get wet, so you can ONLY place your items on the upper countertop. Very poor design!!
TV Guide lineup is useless, the channel lineup doesn’t provide a description of what’s playing! 😔
They offer a very basic free continental breakfast, which is subpar; consisting of watery scrambled eggs (powdered eggs from a box!), Canadian turkey bacon, hash brown triangles, (from a box!), oatmeal, cereals, fruit, bagels and sourdough bread. The second day was a little more appealing and had pork sausage links, hard boiled eggs, and country style potatoes. The toaster machine goes around and toasts the bagels/breads and dumps it out! Everybody’s bagels were flying across the room like boomerangs!!! 😳 Management needs to fix this, there’s a lot of food being thrown out in the garbage!
Overall good location, which is the ONLY good feature of this hotel, just a short walk to breweries, restaurants, bars, and St. Pete Pier for the fireworks show, but based on all the things mentioned here I cannot rate this hotel more than 2 stars. Sorry! 😞
ATTENTION MANAGEMENT PLEASE READ GUESTS REVIEWS AND MAKE IMPROVEMENTS. A LITTLE ACT OF NEGLECT CAN MAR THE REPUTATION OF A...

Don't spend your hard money here. There are a lot of problems at this hotel. Don't be fooled by the aesthetics.., it's not worth the money they charge.
The Bathroom doors lock you inside the bathroom. Maintenance and housekeeping have to jimmy rig the doors to get you out.
Their Beds don't have bed covers on them! This is a shame! And I will NEVER come back to this pricey hotel just on that fact! How does an upscale hotel not have bed covers on their beds? This is cheap and tacky. Don't you guys care about preventing the spread of bugs to your patrons???????? Gross and disgusting!
But wait .., Theres more! There was vomit 🤮 on the side of one of our beds. The supervisor tried to gas-light and blame us and said that we must have put the vomit there. What the!!!???? That was just wild, crazy non-sense!
When we were switched to a new room ., we had the same problem with those bathroom doors too. Maintenance came to fix it while we were downstairs speaking to the supervisor. Upon returning to our room, we saw Maintenance used a screw driver to fix the door. He said, "What's the problem?" (After he tried to fix it) As if to insinuate that there was no problem with the bathroom door at all. As if it's all in our heads. My friend tried the door again, got locked inside again., and maintenance said, "You got to pull the door towards you and shake it". So, we decided not to close or lock the doors at all. There is a defect will all the doors and the hotel management denies it. We went to the store and bought a butter knife to unlock the door. We were not taking anymore chances.
Lastly, the management played games, gas-lit us to try to make us seem like we were creating problems or making things up. I also think there was a racial element and this is why we were treated so poorly and not compensated for all the trouble we had there. If it were their intentions to treat us badly because of our race so that we didn't come back... It worked. I will NEVER! go back there and...
