I used to go there frequently. Unfortunately, a restaurant is only as good as it's employees. When you decide to be in the hospitality business, please be hospitable. In any case, I was so disturbed by my experience that I wrote an email to their offices. They never even wrote back. Food was good, but I go where I'm treated with good service and good communication skills. I have never complained about a restuarant in my life and constantly give every place I go good reviews. To whom it may concern:
I am writing you concerning our experience at your Copper Door restuarant in Salem NH on Saturday, November 24th, 2019. At approximately 1:03am (They used to be open late before) and without any introduction, and or explanation, a woman, who later was identified as the restuarant manager by our waitress, proceeded to aggressively grab my wine glass and the glass of my girlfriend without any introduction or explanation, she just picked up our glasses as she literally rushed our table without not do much as a hello. We were both startled and felt embarrassed. We had purchased a bottle of wine for our dinner, and had done so more than 1.5 hours BEFORE any last call being announced. I have had the pleasure of dining all over the United States and abroad, I have never had drinks that I already ordered and on a dinner table being confiscated and or snatched as was the case in your restaurant. It is important to note that there had been absolutely no issues whatsoever with any other service. The food was excellent, our waitress was excellent and everything was going well prior to this manager just appearing out of nowhere and snatching our drinks. If also own several businesses and understand the stringent liquor laws and how maybe the manager was thinking that she was acting in the best interests of the business. All she had to say was that the restuarants was now officialky closed, and that she needed to collect our glasses. We would have easily complied. There were about thirty other guests there btw, and it wasn't like we were jerks or anything. We were on a quiet date just conversing amongst ourselves as well. Thete was never any conversation with anyone about any issue before this Manager came to our table. I feel that your company should address how it deals with situations like these moving forward. Abruptly grabbing drinks in an aggressive manner off patron's dinner tables without even speakibg is not the right way to go. Hopefully, this woman no longer works at your establishment or has undergone some sort of intensive hospitality...
Read moreUPDATE: Came again last night. Ate amazing apps but ordered meal to go. Got the meatloaf. 2I got 2 tablespoons of mashed potatoes in my order. THATS IT!. I had gotten this meal several times and there have been plenty of potatoes. There is never consistency here.
Been coming here and each time it gets worse. Visited this weekend for lunch. It was busy but not as busy as it usually is.
Ordered calamari, truffle fries, kids Mac and cheese, a Caesar and a green goddess with sirloin.
Calamari was trash. Inedible. Must have been old. Parts of it were so bad it was like biting into soft plastic - like the ring of a water bottle you'd put in your mouth as kids. There was no possible way to break that down, you'll be there for years chewing it. On top of it, the dip it came with was pure mayonnaise and tasted foul. Truffle fries were soggy and greasy. We get them every time and this time it was like half an order. I asked if it was part of the kids meal we got. Nope. Not sure it is worth $9 for an amount that literally is equivalent to a fry in a kids meal. Mac and chesse kids meal. Just a plate of Mac and cheese with the cheese congealed. Off putting or my son who did not eat it. If you have heart issues this is not a dosh you want to eat. Very heavy on globs of thick salty cheese. Another wasted meal. Salad was ok. item description for the green goddess said shaved celery but it came with chunks of sliced celery. Sirloin was ordered med well and the middle was rare. It took over 20 minutes to get the salads alone so we did not even ask for it to be fixed. Caesar was soggy and wilted. We also got the carrot cheesecake and Chocolate PB cake, to go since we had been there over an hour already. They were good. I'm sure if they were eaten in house there would've been more to the dessert. Cheesecake came with no whipped cream, though the menu said it did. PB cake had a glob of something - maybe whipped PB but thick, the sized of a cookie dough scoop, almost as big as the sliver of cake. I wish that was the size of whipped cream they forgot to put on my other dessert. It was all just a big waste of money except the desserts. which we ate every bit of. we mentioned the calamari being terrible and dry and they only offered to replace it. I didn't want more dry old calamari. won't be returning here for...
Read moreMy partner and I went in on a Monday night; the dining room was very busy but we had reservations and were seated quickly while walk-ins waited. We had time to peruse the menu, choose our items, and chat for a bit before the server came by, but she was friendly and took our order quickly. Bread and drinks came out quickly via food and drink runners and kudos to the system neither runner had to ask what went where, they knew. The same can be said for the entree runner - he did not need to ask, and presented both our plates correctly. For as busy as the dining room and bar were, the food came out in less than ten minutes. My choice of the seafood stuffed haddock darn near made the trip from Texas worth it. The fish was perfectly broiled to a firm but buttery consistency and was definitely fresh, with a lot of shrimp, scallop, and crab stuffing with artichoke, corn, onion and celery in bearnaise sauce with panko topping. The only slight detriment to the dish was the parmesan panko was just a bit over charred, but overall, one of the best seafood dishes of its kind I've ever experienced. My partner's chicken marsala was nicely done with perfectly fried and juicy medallions of chicken in the perfect amount of marsala flavoring; it can be easily overwhelming, and this was not. The batter was a perfect sponge for the meat and the proportion of meat to batter just right. The garlic mashed were skin on, chunky and delicious. We ordered the cupcake of the month, a Boston cream cupcake that the server gushed over and described how they injected the cream to order and how much did we want. Since we were splitting the $11 cupcake, we both said 'loaded' at the same time. Alas, it came to the table looking very cute dressed up as a bat, but they had neglected to inject any pastry cream at all. So disappointing. The server was mortified and had it immediately removed from the bill. I'd have rather had a replacement done correctly, but that wasn't a given option. Now to key in on the $11 dollar cupcake. The restaurant is not inexpensive, however you will not leave hungry, (the pizzas will feed an army) and overall the experience is well worth a special...
