El Jefe - Salem — Restaurant in Salem

Very beautiful building, not so beautiful service... We arrived at the restaurant and ordered waters, when they didn’t arrive after 15 minutes we asked again, and another 10 minutes goes by, still no waters. By the time we got our waters we had been there for almost 30 minutes. We ordered our nachos that we were splitting, which took 45 minutes to come, and when we asked the waitress implied that it was the kitchens fault and not her own. She then told us that she would bring us chips and salsa on her(which is weird because most mexican restaurants have this when you sit down ,however, this one may be different), and out chips and salsa never came. When our food came, it was messed up, however we ate it because we couldn’t wait any longer because we were already running late. When we asked for our check we were charged for two nacho bowls, when we ordered just the one, so I asked for it to be fixed and the waitress responded with, ‘Oh they must have messed it up’, which I found extremely rude. Not only did we have to wait for our check, it took 20 minutes for it to be corrected. We ended up being home 1 hour later than we needed to be. Despite this we still tipped a large amount. As much as I love supporting local businesses, it hurts me to leave a bad review, however my experience here was the worst I have had at...

I usually had a great experience there, but today not even got to get my order taken. Got taken to a tablet and waited for 10 minutes, waiters will pass by and the almost empty patio and would just look at us and keep walking. Very disappointed with that, we ended leaving! Sad experience and embarrassing especially after taking my brother who is just visiting and wanted to share with him this place that I used to like going to.

Updating: Replying you: since I couldn’t to you response: If you look at your cameras: what you saw was us leaving through that door, because 10 minutes before you will see us walking in to the front go inside to the reception counter and from there being seated by the HOSTESS by the patio table right by the fireplace (which you can also verify on your cameras if you go by that time frame I mentioned above) . I also know how to read and respect signs, especially after mentioning how I have been there before several times and had a great experience, reason why though it was going to be good to bring my brother who is visiting us. First off I want to state that my experiences are on cinco de mayo and the place was incredibly busy and that could have effected everything

Atmosphere: it’s nice, clean, simple and plenty of outdoor seating. They had a band there for the event which was terrible because the music was so loud I couldn’t hear myself think. Probably more the bands fault than the establishment so take that with a grain of salt

Service: While the staff was very polite they didn’t take any notes on our food order and it showed. My tacos and girlfriends nachos came incorrectly as well as a very long time being seated before anyone payed any attention to us

Food: while our meals were incorrect, we are not really the type to send it back and make a big deal so we ate it and I must say it was tasty and saw no problems with it. There are plenty of other establishments I prefer the food at but nothing wrong here

Price: Fair Tacos a bit expensive for the size Drinks expensive but to be expected Comparable to other establishments

After discussing, I decided I would not return. My girlfriend was willing to give it another chance on another night...
