Main St Bagel Shop — Restaurant in Salem

I will start off and say I have been coming here for the past two years mainly over the summer, I would come in between 4 and 5 times the average week to get my late morning breakfast sandwich. While the people are friendly, the food and prices have taken a rough turn. I give the new owners credit for making the shop look nicer and adding some new furnishings.

Under the previous owners the breakfast sandwiches would come with two eggs automatically and be $7. Under the new owners a single egg sandwich is $9 and with two eggs it pushes over $11. Something about the food is not the same as I used to know it.

As soon as I found out that the shop was going to be under new management I was looking forward to see my routine place improve and grow. It is definitely sad to say that I will not be coming back this summer but I will be willing to give another chance at some point. For last two years we have been coming here on average once a week and always ordered bagel breakfast sandwich. My wife and I have been to few places in surrounding areas but found this to be the better of all options. Bagels were always fresh and never an issue when it came to the quality although once in awhile the service was frustrating (mainly due to only one person working at the times we would order so if it was busy morning, I understood why).

Just learned new ownership took over which I think they have done good job in cleaning up and giving it a more fresh look. However, prices went up and quality went down. I would come here every 2 weeks or so and enjoy several different sandwiches. However, since the new owners, the quality of the food has gone down. I ordered sandwiches that I had gotten before when they had the other owners. On two different occasions I ordered the BLT, which I took home to eat. Both times the bread was burnt and there was one piece of bacon, one piece of lettuce and one slice of tomato. The next time I went there I ordered the egg salad sandwich with lettuce. Again I took it home to eat. There was very little egg salad, a thick layer of lettuce and it was so salty I couldn’t finish it.
