I ordered a big cheeseburger with 3 extra patties and I asked them to add a fried egg. I'm diabetic and I wanted to eat the fries, so to reduce carbs I asked for my burger without a bun. I also asked for an unsweetened tea.
Unforyunately, nutrition information for Nancy Jo's Burger and Fries doesn't seem to be available online, nor on location. Since the food seems similar to Five Guys, Burgers and Fries I used their nutrition information to estimate my macros.
My burger was approximately 86.3 grams of protein, including the fried egg. High protein diets have been shown to help regulate blood sugar in multiple studies, so I try to eat high protein and as low carb as possible (usually). Doing so has allowed me to lose 50 lbs in 6 months, with a sedentary job that forces me to eat out, primarily.
The burgers themselves were delicious, but I wouldn't recommend the fried egg. I'm not sure what it was (maybe the oil they used? The seasonings? I don't know), but the texture seemed odd to me and it was off putting. Next time, I'll just order another patty (which would put my protein at around 96 grams). The fries were pretty good, although some of mine were under cooked. The tea was better than a lot of places, however.
The lobby was clean and the staff was friendly. When I arrived the lobby was empty, but it filled up quickly for the lunch rush. I suppose I had lucky timing.
The bathroom was pretty gross. During my visit, no one went into the restroom, staff or customer. Naturally, I would assume that the restroom would have been cleaned when it was slow. I was wrong. Who ever used the restroom before me didn't flush the toilet. The base of the toilet looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months or maybe years. The sink had visible dirt in it, the mirror needed cleaning, as well. I sat near the restroom while my food was cooked and I ate my food. There was a long period of time that the restaurant was empty and anyone could have cleaned the restroom but didn't.
Would I recommend Nancy Jo's Burger and fries? If you're in the area, sure. Will I eat there again? Probably not. The food was OK, but I'm not in that area of town often and I don't see myself traveling out of my way for food...
Read moreFirst off the problem isn’t the food, it’s the employee(s). The only reason I am writing a review is because of the disrespect I witnessed and poor customer service I experienced personally.
As we walked in my husband and I saw the cashier behind the counter taking an order on the telephone. We were not in a rush and didn’t mind waiting patiently. Her facial expression showed annoyance with the customer she was speaking with and a few times rolled her eyes which was very disrespectful and off putting. We observed her call the order back to the cook using an annoyed tone of voice and another exaggerated eye roll.
She then asked us what we wanted and I begin to order. In the middle of my order she interrupted me to ask me what kind of cheese I wanted on my burger . (Which was not an issue, I understand that certain systems require you to put in certain parts of the order first before you can continue inputting the order.) I misunderstood her question and answered with a simple “yes”. She was obviously annoyed by my response and said, “So.....what kind of cheese?” as if I was a burden to her. I then looked back up at the menu to see the list of choices and she began to list the options. At the end of her “assistance” she let out a sigh. (I am assuming because she had to repeat her question then explain my options) My husband ordered his burger with all the toppings but no onion. I asked for a water cup and for my husband a soda. She only gave us the soda cup.
As we were waiting for our order, I notice she kept checking her personal cell phone under the counter “secretly”. This was very unprofessional. (The establishments phone is a landline)
The icing on the cake was when we received our order and my husbands burger had onion on it when he requested no onion.
We have been here many times, as we have lived in the area for years, but it looks like we will not be returning and will be sharing our experience with our family...
Read moreI used to really like going here, it was a great place to get a tasty burger and fries. Recently they jacked up the Beyond burger prices and made the burger smaller. I also got a large fry and it was between a small and medium amount of fries. I came away very hungry having paid too much for my small meal. They also changed the lettuce options, which is a small thing but icing on the cruddy cake. Definitely going somewhere else next time.
Edit: I have been a faithful customer since your store opened in S Salem. I have never come away hungry like that and had my food be served in such small portions. Why would you disrespect a customer by calling them a liar? This is terrible customer service. The large fry was served to me as the portion I said, much much smaller than normal. The basket was half full. The burger was not the same size as normal no matter how you say it is prepared. You did not eat my meal. I have eaten there one other time when the burger was too small, but that time it looked scrapped off the grill, like some had been lost to the floor. This time it was just 2/3s the size it should have been. How am I, a customer to know how things are done? If what you say is true then clearly you have an employee problem. How dare you blame this on me. The reason I am mad about the price is 1) I came away very hungry having paid more. Unacceptable. And 2) the beyond burger was 3 dollars more than the meat burger. I cannot eat the meat burger. The lettuce issue was small. The menu sign no longer said two types of lettuce that I could see and the cashier was so distracted that he did not mention any other lettuce. In fact, we were treated oddly at the counter. I think your employee was obviously high. Obviously, we are not coming back to your establishment, especially after...
