Thai Beer Restaurant — Restaurant in Salem

What was once a great place to eat good Thai food, with Thai people cooking their dishes, has become a run down, dingy hole with people who do not eat Thai food, and therefore do not know the secrets of making it taste spectacular, cooking it. The quality has dropped so much over the last few years and it is no surprise to see very few, if any, people inside at any given mealtime. Nice people work there, sure. But nice people do not make a good restaurant, great food & cleanliness does. This place has neither any more. I am done giving them my business, after 10 years of being a good customer. They try to make up for bad taste with HUGE portions. Big piles of rice noodles do not make for a great plate of Phad Thai. When you can't serve a great tasting plate of your national dish, you might want to think about improving your business. I have thrown away my last plate of take out mush, with the worst Peanut Sauce I ever had. Goodbye Thai Beer, I wish you luck, you are going to need it to stay in business if you do not improve this restaurant. I stopped in here for lunch on a Wednesday. There were 2 other tables with customers, so not very busy. They bring out soup after being seated which is really nice. The soup had great flavor and a lot of tofu, it was just barely warm, almost cold. We ordered salt and pepper chicken, crab puffs and chicken pad thai. The crab puffs were ok, also not very hot and the middle was runny. The salt and pepper chicken was really crispy and had great flavor. Some of the pieces were too hard and inedible, but not a deal breaker. The pad thai was terrible. When it came out both my cousin and I said why is it so red? It looks weird. It tasted weirder. The chicken was bland and over cooked. The sauce tasted like ketchup with extra sugar added to it. There were also no peanuts or lime with it. I have never had pad thai like that so maybe that's their version, and if so I'm sorry but I did not...

BLUE COLLAR WORKERS BEWARE.......Walked in 2 different times and she pointed towards a table so I set down and started looking at the menu. Then when she finally came to my table and I told her I wanted 3 meals to go she took my order and didn't say anything to me and my debt card was out and on the table. When she brought me my food to the table she didn't bring the check and told me I had to go to the counter to pay for my MEALS after me watching her take other people's cards from the table and return it to the table WITHOUT them walking to the counter. I made 10$ because I put the 10$ back in my wallet after being treated different because I'm a construction worker and was pretty dirty. Customer service is half the reason people come back and I won't go back until it's raining and my boots track on her floor and not do it to the restaurants that like us blue...
