It was time to try the business across the street from me in Salina. From the moment I walked in, it was friendly and inviting. I came in for lunch on a Monday, which is typically a slower day. I was greeted and seated promptly, and had my drink as I was finishing settling in. I ordered flour chips with salsa, and they were out of this world! Freshly made, warm, crispy, and then the fresh salsa, seriously some of the best flour chips and salsa I’ve ever had. I ordered the Enchiladas Ranchero. It surprised me to have the beef on the outside of the enchilada smothered in enchilada sauce, but I really liked it. You could taste the flavor of the beef better I think, than if it had been rolled in the enchilada. The rice and beans were both good, pretty standard. I also liked the guacamole, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and cheese salad. It tasted really fresh and balanced the heavier enchilada flavors. The portions were all very large, so definitely a great value for your money.
I’ll definitely be back! I met the owner, Chris, and he was very polite and kind. My waitress was amazing as well! The speed of service was A+! If you’re in a time crunch and don’t want greasy fast food, try this restaurant for a healthy, tasty alternative. I feel confident recommending Candiles to...
Read moreI did a take out order, when I got there the food wasn’t ready. (I waited the recommended time before I got there) I told the server the name for the order and she said she would check to see if my order was ready. I think they barely started cooking my food when I got there because I waited 20 another minutes. The server never came back to tell me know anything. She came back because he got a phone call where she told the person it would be ready in 25 mins saying all this while she looked at me! They she finally came and told me that my food was ready. She came back maybe 5 minutes later with my food then realized she didn’t have my desert, where it took her another 15 minutes before she came back!!! And to top it off the food it’s even good. Definitely not authentic Mexican food (I’m Mexican). The meat was so salty, the fries were soggy(probably from waiting so long), rice barely had any flavor, and one of the meals only came with 3 small tacos how can you call the a meal and charge over $15 for it? Don’t plan on...
Read moreThe food was average, about the same as what you’ll get at Jalisco or La Curva. The service was average. Prices were on par with the aforementioned restaurants.
The salsa was bland and underseasoned for me personally. Every single one of our orders was done wrong in some way. My Ernie’s burrito had the meat and sauce but nothing else mentioned on the menu. We had two plates with chimichangas of some kind that were supposed to be one chicken and one beef each. One plate got all beef and the other got all chicken. Our other plate was supposed to be a ground beef a la carte burrito. It came only as a bean burrito, but they did get that one swapped out pretty quickly.
This would have at least been a three star review, maybe more because I’m usually generous with these, but both of our tickets had “supp fee” at the bottom somewhere around $1.50. We have no idea what it was for and it was not for credit cards as it was on there before we paid. We won’t be back...
