Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Salinas

I love this place! The food is always amazing. But even more than the food the service is usually exceptional and I come a lot many times because of the excellent service.

The owner, Angel is so down to earth. You wouldn't think he is an owner because from the moment you are to the end of your meal he is working hard doing everything his staff does. He cashiers, delivers food to your table, and when he has time comes to your table and checks in on you and chats for a little bit when he is not in a rush which he usually is but always makes sure you have a pleasant meal.

Mary, the manager (they call her the sergeant), is extremely organized when she is there. She makes sure all the orders are processed and delivered correctly and takes care of any glitches that come up in any restaurant but she is always in control and takes care of things immediately!

If you get Kayla or Isabella to serve you, you are in for a terrific meal experience. Both girls consistently check in on you and make sure your drink is full or simply ask if they can be of additional service. That is extremely refreshing.

You really have to come try this place out. Their menudo and their pozole is the bomb and I keep coming back because of their onion rings.

If you are fortunate enough to be served by Kayla or Isabella, I promise you will have an excellent dining experience and I promise you will be back; no doubt!!!

I was going to Salinas and was thinking fish, like Phil's in Moss Landing. So you understand my level of food quality. I found this place on Google maps and it peaked my curiosity. This place used to be a Long John's silvers, probably the worst fried fish that I have ever tried. So I was not really expecting high-quality, properly prepared sea food. I was wrong the deep fried fish was fresh, not frozen, and the shrimp were so crunchy, yet moist and delicious inside. I have only tried the 20 piece battered shrimp and 4 piece fish and baked potato. I would like the fish to be bigger portions, I had to share this meal, and it was difficult. I wanted to eat everything 😋. I really like good clam chowder, so I got some... It is not clam chowder it was runny. It seems to be missing any clams or even the taste of clams. It was like a base of cream carrots, and potatoes not bad, just not actually clam chowder . I gave 4 stars because I want to try more items and the chowder, however I'm excited about more shrimp and won't share next time. They have a very extensive menu and if the quality I experienced was any indication ,I'm sure they have a choice you will enjoy. The food is great as usual, but the person who took my order was very rude, when I asked her if the accepted debit cards, her response was not " yes sir", she said " well if you money in your account, we do". Once there, I walked in through the back door, there was an elderly couple walking in front of me. The lady at the counter said to them" if you are eating in, you must get in line, over there". The elderly lady said " oh the line is very long, and he cannot stand for long periods of time". The answer killed me, she was told " but you can, let him sit here, and you go get line, when are next, he can join you". Come on, what does this say to your elderly clientele? Rules are rules, but no rule is written on stone, I take that back, 10 rules are, but no more. You should want to feel your customers welcomed, NOT REJECTED.
