Five Below — Local services in Salinas

We lined up for their regular Squishmallows Event today and it turned out they released them earlier in the week unannounced. One of the employees (Xotchitl) was rude to us when we asked when they were stocked. She told us they were “instructed” to release them early and to complain to corporation. I find that hard to believe though because all locations are set to drop the same releases on the same date. 5Below always announces the date on their social pages so customers know a week in advance. But many people were mainly upset that there were employees inside but not a single one informed us that there weren’t going to be any Squish available. They really had people wait 20-30 mins before they opened to tell us there was nothing. I’ve been to many of their Squishmallows drops and this is the first time it’s been so poorly organized, I can’t help but think something shady was happening this time around. Super annoying when the employees at the register reach over you to complete their customer service survey. Have also encountered them telling you to give them a 9. Half the time they don’t have what I need in stock and literally all the employees do is just say “Welcome to Five Below”. They just stand around and talk with each other… so how does that justify getting a 9 rating. I usually just skip the survey so I can get out quickly but considering doing 1 from now on. A fun store to go check out. Most items in the store are priced at $5 or less. A few things are priced a little above $5, but not much. They have the spinning disco lights, a starlight projector that turns your ceiling into the night sky, a few women's clothes and slippers,and all kinds of other interesting things.
