Cake Art — Restaurant in Salisbury

I’m not usually one to do this but man I couldn’t even tell you how their cakes are because I couldn’t get passed the ignorant lady on the phone when I called. Their Facebook Headline reads “We Create Custom Cakes” to me custom means that means you can make anything. When I asked if she can make a certain kind of cake she said “This isn’t Classic Cakes this is Cake Art”…… Ummm Okay so what? You didn’t even give me a chance to enjoy one of your “Custom” cakes. Then I said well what kind of cake can you make? She said “For when”? I said Friday (a few days from now) and she said “No” in the most ignorant tone. I don’t remember asking a yes or no question. I asked very politely well what kind of cake can you make then? I don’t know what this lady’s name was or if she was the manager or the owner but as a marketing manager for a larger company than “Cake Art” that specializes in brand growth and development I can tell you that your never going to grow your business like that Miss Nasty Attitude. If you’d ever heard the term CLV or Customer Lifetime Value. That’s the value of revenue that a given customer brings in over their lifetime. Well this potential customers CLV for Cake Art is equal to $0. If I could give you a negative stars...

We chose cake art to bake our wedding cake and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. The whole process from the tasting to actually getting to cut the cake and eat it at the reception was super simple and affordable. The staff at Cake Art for the tasting were super friendly and welcoming. Excellent communication whenever we had a question for them. During a tasting they showed us a mock up sketch of our vision for the cake. When I tell you it turned out EXACTLY what we envisioned (and tasted even better). We had a 3 tiered cake with each tier being a different flavor wrapped in delicious European white buttercream frosting. Each layer was delicious on it’s own, however…

My husband and I cannot stress this enough, Cake Art’s Pink Champagne cake is simply divine!!! And the best part about having our wedding cake made through them is we get a smaller free cake for our 1st anniversary so we don’t have to freeze any cake (as if there was any cake left after the reception, yeah it was that delicious and all of our guests raved about it).

So, if you’re getting married on the eastern shore or in DelMarVa area, we can’t recommend and thank the lovely staff at Cake Art enough. They made our dream wedding cake...

We've tried this cupcake shop numerous times over the last year and a half, each time hoping it would be good. Sadly, it...just never gets past "okay." Cupcakes are always some level of too dry, sometimes with decent flavor but not every time, and they have unfortunate consistency issues. The last time we stopped in, a couple weeks ago, the buttercream frosting on the cupcakes we got tasted and felt like it was almost entirely butter. It was terribly unpleasant and just another in a string of disappointments.

I'm a bit of a cupcake hound and am always up for trying a shop wherever I travel, so I'm very familiar with the commonalities and pitfalls of the business. I was excited by the idea of finally finding a good cupcake shop close to home.
