Went there with friends & family for dinner. When I walked in at 7 PM, it was chilly inside. Because it was warm outside, I didn't wear a jacket, just a short sleeve UA polo. It continued to get cooler for the next hour. I imagine the mgmt was expecting the happy hour crowd to heat the place up, but the temp didn't change, so I was uncomfortable during dinner. The food was ok. I ordered the waygu meatloaf dinner that came with mashed potatoes, green beans, and their special catsup. The meatloaf was a curiosity as I've never had a waygu meatloaf before. It was a lesser meatloaf to my taste, nothing special. It may have been better if they had not put their special catsup all over it. I wasn't impressed with the catsup. The meatloaf was in the shape of a very large burger, not the expected traditional loaf presentation. The flavor was ok, just nothing special. I saw no evidence of any onion or the usual flavorings that are usually found in meatloaf. The texture was good on the outside of the meat, but inside was soft and fell apart at the slight touch of my fork. This made me feel that the meatloaf burger was made on order from a larger amount of seasoned, partially pre cooked ground meat and hand formed for final cooking, much like a bulk of ground beef instead of a real meatloaf baked in a loaf pan. I think their effort to make a meatloaf new and upscale flopped seriously. The potatoes were good but were over salted. The beans were good but were just a bit under cooked for me. They were still quite firm and very crunchy. The overall atmosphere was very nice in the restaurant and pretty comfortable except for the room temperature. My dinner companions were happy with their dinners. The wait staff was excellent!!! Would I recommend this place to eat?? Yes, but I suggest you pass on the...
Read moreVery nice quiet atmosphere during lunch. Have not been there for dinner yet, though the dinner menu looks great. Shredded chicken tacos were good. Ordered the mahi mahi tacos as well, but received the tuna tacos sure to wife's mumbling :). The coffee is excellent. Served via french press. Wife and I plan on making this our go to place when in Salisbury area.
UPDATE. Wife and I took our edest daughter to dinner here on 29 Mar 2018. They've earned another start. I had the filet mignon, wife had scallops (cooked perfectly), daughter the burger. All outstanding. I had to fight the wife off my steak which was as tender as I have ever had. The sauce covering it was mild but tasty. If there was seasoning on the steak itself I didn't notice it.
Almost forgot. I order coffee to go with my dinner. As I noted above it comes in a french press. The waiter came back with the coffee quickly and the plunger was already pushed down. Naturally the coffee was a bit weak. I raised the plunger, but the grounds had already been pressed down so were not free. I still finished the pot and ordered another. I told the waiter not to press the plunger ths time. I waited several minutes before pressing the plunger and pouring. Still a bit weak, but better. Perhaps to few grounds?
Update 21 February 2019. SOBOs has become the go to place for the wife and I. Rarely do we not get one of the weekly specials with the nicely paired wines. Both of which are...
Read moreI should have known when I walked through the door... the atmosphere was very cold and unwelcoming...I was seated at a table and it was dirty enough that the bread plate stuck to it... when the waitress came to take to my order I asked if the calamari was both rings and tentacles, she said yes, so I ordered them as an appetizer, I think they were $15 and the $29 special: 6 oz. Steak Frite - at which point the waitress felt compelled to pronounce Frite very audibly before I could finish ordering LOL! It seemed like 2 minutes later the runner was bringing the "calamari" out - the presentation was terrible the food looked like it had been thrown on the plate there were maybe 8 calamari rings and ZERO tentacles- the rest of the plate was actual crumbs...like what you would find at the bottom of a bag of cheap clam strips...then the "ceasar" salad comes out, barely dressed (I thought they had forgotten the dressing) and no parmesan, with romaine lettuce so pale it too looked like it was scraped from the bottom of the bag 😂, I thought "Well...I'm batting a 1,000, let's see how this ends 🤣🤣🤣"... so out comes the Steak Frite...honestly- perfectly cooked rare steak, lovely cooked skin on fries ... no complaints on the dish, but overall - the menu is lackluster, the food is MID at best and the prices are ridiculous for what you get...skip...
