Waffle House — Restaurant in Salisbury

If I could give zero, I would! I go to the WH in Mooresville all the time. This was my first time in a very long while at the WH on Jake Alexander, Salisbury. I was treating my mother to lunch. We sat down and our waiter took our order. BLT and hash browns for me and a burger w/LT and hash browns for my mom. They weren’t even busy. The waiter brought our food and I had a raw bacon sandwich with hash browns and her sandwich was plain with her hash browns. WHY in the world would you serve RAW bacon… I called the waiter and asked that he correct my order. Even the one waitress commented, “it needs to be done.’” She saw how RAW the bacon was. My mother was missing her lettuce and tomato. He took her entire plate back when he took my plate. Our waiter mentioned to the cook and I saw him dump my entire plate of food in the trash. My mothers plate sat up on the back counter for a while. Finally, I see our waiter put on gloves to grab lettuce and tomato to put on her sandwich and brought her plate back. By this time, it’s been 15 minutes. Her hamburger and hash browns were cold and when she tasted everything, it was all greasy. I finally get my BLT and it’s just bacon.. BLACK/BURNT bacon. Another waitress came by and I asked for lettuce and tomato for my sandwich. I picked off the worst of the BLACK/BURNT bacon pieces and put them directly on the table. What was left was only 1 1/2 pieces that were still a little black and VERY crispy. I didn’t get any hash browns either. I took one bite and just put it down. Our waiter showed back up and told him this was ridiculous and showed him the burnt pieces and told him her sandwich was cold. At that point, I put down a $20 and we walked out the door. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK to THIS location!!! To the Asian waiter, you need to get a different job as waiting tables is not your thing. To the COOK. You need to also find another job. It wasn’t my fault that our waiter called out the order incorrectly. You should have never SENT OUT RAW bacon. Secondly, you should have NEVER SENT OUT BLACK/BURNT bacon like you did (reference attached photo). Note, the sandwich was cut in half and I only took a small bite). I can’t believe people eat at this location but I will be sure to spread how horrible our experience was....

You'll have to be specific if you're picky about food placement or the way things are cooked. The hashbrowns for example; they cook a pile of hashbrowns, a separate pile of mushrooms, a separate pile of onions, etc. and when you want cheese it's in a pretty little puddle on the side of the hashbrown patty, that was cooked separately and not always done as much as one may like in the middle. They call that patty 'scattered' for some reason. I would think spreading everything that you desire on the hashbrown together with the hashbrown and cooking it all at once for somewhat of a hashbrown omelette would be considered more scattered than the individual and complete opposite of the way they do it but perhaps their definition of scattered entails that the toppings are scattered away from the hashbrown patty, so that's why I'm stating that one needs to be specific in their Waffle House desires.

As far as their food and service, it's top-notch. Of course you may come across a member of the wait staff that's grouchy or short-worded but please consider that this is a person that has a life outside of this work environment and they could have been there for 8 hours and needed for another shift, their feet could be hurting, their life could be problematic at the moment but whatever the cause, instead of adding to their misery and being an asshole why not try to add to the solution and show compassion? Understand that you have moments when you're not the best 'people-person' either so try to be understanding and converse with them, no matter how opposite they are from you, I'm sure you'll find similarities somewhere because we're all just trying to survive for as long as we can on this giant clump of dirt floating through space. Give a smile, get appreciation! It's a great feeling and although it's monetary value isn't the highest it'll leave you with a feeling money can't buy so...

I have gone by there multiple times and they are not open. I called another store in the area to ask the hours of the store and was told by management that it is suppose to be 24/7. There would be at least 2 cars in the parking lot and employees inside . I have also gone by there and have seen the employees with their heads down on the counters as if the were sleeping. Never looked up & I pulled right in front of the front door. I have tried calling and only get a message stating that they are not excepting call in orders & that they are open. I go by there between 4:30 and 5am every morning. I went by there this morning and the lights were out. I understand that Covid has effected businesses and they can be short staffed but why advertise that you are open online and even say that you are open when you call the store while listening to the automated message. You have people that are traveling and look forward to eating in your restaurant but only to find out that you are closed. Again that is between the hours 4:30 am & 5am. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! So I stopped by today & OMG, The place was nasty for them only doing to go orders. And they charge an extra 20% to your bill for them cooking your food. Are serious??? Today was the first time I actually got to go in & will not go back. Still can't get over on how nasty it was. I will try the other one & hope that the mangers take better pride in...
