I wanted to give it zero stars, but was made to give it at least one review. I am livid, to say the least!! I had to take some days to get my composure together before writing this review. One day last week, I went into the Kays Jewelers in Salisbury NC and observed/heard one of the most shocking forms of prejudice I have encountered in my life. There was a gentleman (African American) who had a Vietnam veteran hat on (and through my conversation with him, I learned he was indeed a Vietnam Vet). I thanked him for his service and continued to browse the store's case of jewelry. This gentleman told a young (Caucasian) female employee that he purchased his earrings from that store and had come back to get his earrings cleaned. She turned her nose up, rolled her eyes, and told him she couldn't and wasn't going to touch his ears or his earrings. He asked "Why", and she said, "Because we don't do that here and I won't." I stood there in shock! She was so rude. I watched the gentleman walk out the store with tears in his eyes and then put his head down. I know for a fact that the store's employees touch ears and clean earrings. They pierce ears, so how can you do that without cleaning/touching ears/earrings? Not long after, a woman, man, and young child (all Caucasian) walked into the store to get the woman and man's jewelry cleaned (to include earrings from the ears of both the man and woman) . The same employee (who minutes before) said she couldn't and wouldn't touch the African American man's ears, was extremely jovial with this family and was all smiles when it came to touching and cleaning their ears and earrings. I was p*, commented to her that I was appauled by what I witnessed, and I left. I found myself in tears. I told several people I knew about what I saw and heard, and it's sad to say that they weren't surprised and told me of things they've experienced in the past at Kay's. I will never give my business to this place again. How hard is it to treat all races the same? I hope they will do a better job of screening employees prior to hiring. People with prejudice like this employee I was at the store with has no business with a customer service position. Giving my business to this place is now something of the past.
Response to Tammy:
Thank you, Tammy, for reaching out to me. I do understand you are the manager, but I would prefer matters such as this be handled by someone at the district level. I have been management before, and I know just how far you can take this (meaning your hands are tied at some point). The act was wrong, unacceptable, and totally inappropriate. The fact that I am a 25-year vetetan made me feel just as bad. I truly have a bad taste in my mouth for Kays. My wish is in the future not to be contacted by any entity of Kays. Anything pass this, I will consider harassment. In all actuality, this isn't about me, it's about that poor gentleman and future customers being treated that way. Thank you, and...
Read moreI’m writing this review because it’s needed and for the general public to know if you’re interested in doing business with this company. First, I bought my fiancé a ring at this location in January of 2024, however, after purchasing this ring, several months later that a diamond came out of the side of the ring and their excuse was when the diamonds go down the side of the ring, they’re small they tend to come out Occasionally, so I took the ring back and had them to replace the Diamond, which took a month. Afterwards, my fiancee’ received the ring back and now the diamond is out again and she was unaware of it and didn’t notice it, mind you she does not wear the ring on an every day basis due to her job so she can’t really wear this ring that much but when she decided to put it on, she noticed the diamond was gone. I called and spoke to a representative there at Kay Jewelers and they stated to bring the ring in and they will fix it for no charge. We took the ring in and was helped by another representative, and I mentioned to the representative exactly what the lady told me over the phone, now things change after this Representative speaks to I guess a manager in the rear of the store and stated that they wouldn’t charge for the labor, but they have to charge me for the diamond that came out of the ring mind you it’s the same diamond that was replaced before so at that point I just got up and left. They will use an excuse of you need to bring the ring back every six months to be inspected and cleaned. This is something that they use to try to get out of warranting the ring or any other jewelry so be beware now I have a ring la year old That has a missing diamond, I recommend you not buying any rings or jewelry from this establishment that has diamonds going down the side of it at all whatsoever because most likely they will fall out continuously. They did not honor what they indicated that they would honor to me. From here on out, I will place my review everywhere I can each morning somewhere online and now I will start with social media...
Read moreHad been looking for a white gold rope chain for my middle son for his birthday. I found one online at Kay Jewelers so I ordered it and scheduled it for in-store pickup. The pickup day was Valentine Day so upon entering the store I noticed that it was beautifully decorated with pink and red heart decor nothing to grand but still enough to enjoy. The sales team greeted me with what sounded to be in unison a hearty hello and welcome to Kay's. To which I responded almost laughing "Hi." As I made my way to one of the jewelry counters a very nice sales lady who's name I failed to get assisted me. She was friendly, quick, and knew how to do her job. She asked how she could assist me so I told her that I was there for an online order in-store pickup. She then asked for my ID and used a hand held device to look up my order once she was able to confirm that I indeed had an order she handed me my ID back and informed me that she would be right back. Well she then went to retrieve my purchase and in a few seconds or so she was back. She opened the box to show me my purchase to make sure I was receiving the correct item and that I still wanted it. Once I confirmed that it was in fact the correct item and that I did want it she placed the item back in the box and went to retrieve a bag for my purchase. She placed my purchase in the bag and also added a piece of red tissue paper which I'm sure they were doing with all purchases that day as it was Valentine Day. But I still thought it was a nice touch. She then handed me my purchased item with a cheerful "can I help you with anything else today?" to which I responded "no thank you this is all" she wished me a good day, thanked me for my business, and invited me back. When I got home I wanted to see what the necklace would look like with the pendant I purchased from Amazon so I added the pendant to the chain put it on and had hubby snap a pic. I think...
