Been meaning to visit for awhile. Finally had the chance!

Service was solid. My server did her job with no problems and some of the other servers and staff talked to me in a very positive manner :)

As far as the food, I wasn't sure what to expect as this was Scandinavian but I was excited to try it! I had read lots of reviews about small portions and I was very hungry. When the food came out, it did look smaller although that's OK with me as I would love to leave room for pastries.

I purchased the smoked salmon benedict and it was spectacular but what made it better is that I can't have gluten so I ordered the sourdough. It seemed like very authentic sourdough and I could even taste it despite the strong taste of the smoked salmon. I was very impressed by this!

The only thing I would've changed were the hashbrowns but overall they are still better than the majority of breakfast restaurants. I would've liked to see maybe a unique sauce or some kind of Scandinavian sauce or salsa to go with the hashbrowns.

🄲 Overall, this was a five star breakfast! I had to remove one star because there were not any gluten-free options when it comes to the pastries. The sourdough makes up for it when it comes to breakfast but I was really looking forward to pastries. It would've been wonderful if they had a SOURDOUGH PASTRY, but instead, I left craving sugar! In other countries, there's a chance that I could have enjoyed a pastry as there are sometimes less pesticides used in their flour. 🄲 I was hoping that because of the Scandinavian background, maybe the used a different flour...

Removed a star due to environment as I was considering if I were to bring a date in the future. Atmosphere was a bit noisy considering there were still many seats open. No evidence of noise control panels and the music seemed to be droning like as if maybe the speakers were blown. As someone with tinnitus the noise level is a number one priority. Besides the noise the atmosphere was very clean, open,...

Went here for the first time and it will be our last. The service here was the worst I've ever experienced at any restaurant. We arrived on Sunday at 1130. We waited for over 20 minutes for a glass of water of which we had to ask someone for it. No server came by to ask if we wanted anything to drink, bring silverware, nothing until we asked someone walking by. After receiving the water, we then waited another 25 minutes for someone to take our order. They didn't come by on their own, again, we had to get up and ask someone to help us. We then waited another 45 mintues for our food. The food...wow, how disappointing. Waffles were over cooked and dark brown (she didn't even eat them), the 6 oz. steak came as 3 little medallions over just a quarter in size, the chorizo was crumbled over cooked beef or something; definately not sausage. We were there nearly 2 hours, the majority of time was waiting for a server and food. No one ever checked on us to see how our food was, if we needed anything, no one. Then we get the bill, over $100 for food that is nothing as described. I would've complained about the food for a credit, but honestly, I was so upset from the whole experience, I didn't want to deal with them, their rude manager or their obvious problems this place has. There were many customers that were there before us and were still waiting for food when we left. No one there looked happy with their dining experience. I really don't understand the higher reviews, this place is over priced with subpar food and the absolute worse service by servers and the manager..ever! Do not waste your money and time here, there are plenty of cafes in the area that are 5 stars worth of your...

Edit: I tried this place for a second time and decided to update my review, knocking it down from 3 to 2 stars. This is definitely a trendy place, and I can’t understand why. Today we waited 40 minutes (our choice) just to not have our name called although we checked many times and were told we are next. They crossed our name off the list and said they called us, which they did not. It’s okay if it was human error, just be accountable .. don’t lie. Also, maybe invest a reservation system to better help the customer AND staff. We had a wonderful waitress, which we did last time as well so I am happy report that the waiting staff is still solid. However, the food is consistently disappointing. There are far better places in salt lake that deserve the hype, while keeping prices and menu accurate to what is being served. I’m sure that none of this intentional, and I still encourage you to still try this place. However there is a lot of opportunity for improvement, and I don’t think this place deserves the hype that it gets for what the overall experience is. If you’re just going for eggs and toast, or even waffles. You will love this place. If you’re going for anything else, it’s very underwhelming and not worth the effort or cost.

Original: I wanted to love this place, but it seems to be a bit hyped up. It doesn’t have a very strong Scandinavian menu, and both the salmon and waffles were underwhelming. It has a cute vibe if that’s what you were looking for, and the service was fantastic. It’s a shame that the food was rather subpar compared to other...

The waiter was very nice but no one there was accommodating in the slightest. The portion was very small, and did not even try to meet expectations. It was a 30 minute wait to get in, 20 minutes just to get water, and another 45 minutes for our food. They didn’t have covered outdoor seats and lucky for us the rain started to pour down on everyone sitting outside. As we’re standing and waiting for our food inside, no one checked in on us once and/or explained how to proceed given that we lost our seats with them being drenched in the rain. I understand the weather cannot be controlled, but the experience was awful given the circumstances. When we did eventually get our food to-go, it ended up missing a part of our order. On top of that, the ā€œIrish Troutā€ ended up being a small ā€˜dead’ and wet salmon filet and no one had informed us. We found out once we left. It’s unfortunate because we heard great things about Finn’s. The price for the experience and the food was in the most literal sense, criminal. Not worth a single dollar, an experience so poor we will never be back and will spread the word. I simply do not see why anyone would recommend this place and how you could run a restaurant this poorly. This is my friend’s and mine’s honest opinion. If you try this place out then I hope you’ll have a better experience than ours, but save your time and spend your hard earned dollar elsewhere…

During our visit, we ordered the Eggs Benedict Royal, the Salt Lake City omelet, and a grilled cheese sandwich for my child. The Eggs Benedict Royal was absolutely delicious — perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise, and a flavorful combination of ingredients made it the highlight of the meal. The Salt Lake City omelet was decent, though a bit on the dry side, so it didn’t stand out as much. The grilled cheese was a hit with my kid, and it came with a side of fresh fruit, which was a nice touch and made the meal feel a bit healthier. The service was excellent throughout our visit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which added a lot to the overall experience. We chose to sit outside, and the outdoor seating area was wonderful. There was plenty of shade from the surrounding trees, keeping things cool and comfortable even in the midday sun. It created a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable. Parking could be a bit limited depending on the time of day, but we noticed there’s some off-street parking available, which helps alleviate the issue. Overall, it was a great spot for a casual meal with family. Tasty food, great service, and a lovely outdoor dining experience make this place worth a visit. I’d definitely return to try more from their menu.

We last went to Finns in 2020 just before COVID hit. Kinda hard to remember exactly how the food was, but we went today and got the same dishes as before. Chicken and Waffles and the Norwegian Omelette. The waffles seemed different - kinda dry and foam-like. Nice aroma but not very tasty. The chicken was fried nicely but was very thin cut, so not very much meat overall. I don't remember it being like that but I'm gonna check my old food photos šŸ˜‚ It was busy this morning -- if we were true Scandinavians we'd have requested to eat outside (ha ha) but instead it was about 25 minute wait and it was only getting longer after us. Time was about 11:15 am. Prices have gone up $5-$7 per dish since our last visit. And if I'm right about the chicken - we have shrinkflation. Overall an ok visit. The food wasn't as great as we remembered. The charm is still there. Nice building. Decent service but not super personal/attentive. It was busy. We did our best to dine and dash šŸ˜‚ (for the benefit of those waiting 40+ by the time we left). Warm days are fun for outdoor dining. I even found a cute Swede there! Added the menu since a lot of prices in the review were several years old.
