Open House 6/13/23, "star of the show" pictures added 6/20/23 Several pictures added 3.15.23! Please take the time to visit SLC's newest park. Have some gratitude for the efforts of all the people involved with the "Save Allen Park" campaign. Imagine the future of this place, after a few years of volunteers continuing to clean it up, put some work into landscaping, bringing in colorful vegetation. The photos of what it used to look like when it was a real community, many colorful flowers, the sounds of birds and Emigration Creek, remind us of how important nature is for everyone. Read moreA wholly unique experience in the sugarhouse area. Growing up it was shrouded in mystery, high school kids called it “hobbitville”. Now, that shroud has been lifted and we are given a view into the strange and dilapidated paradise Dr. Allen constructed nearly a century ago. Must-see if you enjoy outsider art, with tile-in-cement poems scattered throughout. Beyond the nearly-untouched time capsule element of buildings, bridges, and fountains, Emigration creek runs through it and is very beautiful. Peacocks and deer have homes here and it’s such a pleasant place to be in. I NEED to see some more effort put into rehab on it though. SLC parks I would love...
Read moreIn "transition" as this historical place undergoes a face-lift. There is fencing everywhere and a guard near the front so public hours are strictly enforced. It is a peaceful hidden gem. The guard was super friendly and informed me he was there to discourage the homeless community who wanted to use the buildings in the past. A wonderful place to walk and wonder about the past. Changes will be coming if the city keeps it's promises so I recommend going now before the past is becomes just...
